Notification of submission The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Joint Waste Core Strategy Development Plan Document was submitted to the Secretary of State on Friday 20 January 2012. The Document Library contains an electronic copy of the examination documents submitted. Further information is available on the Waste Core Strategy Examination webpage. Inspector Melvyn Middleton BAECON DIPTP DIPMGT MRTPI has been appointed to conduct the examination to determine whether the Development Plan Document is sound and legally compliant. The Inspector will set a timetable for the examination and details will be made available on this webpage once they are known. The Programme Officer, Mrs Vanessa Baughan, will act as the contact point for any person who has made representations at the pre submission stage, and as a liaison between the Inspector, the Councils and Representors. She acts independently on behalf of the Inspector to organise and manage the administrative and procedural matters of the Examination process and is the first point of contact for any questions relating to timetabling or procedural matters. All statements will also be submitted through her. I am pleased to inform you that in accordance with the above Regulations, Staffordshire County Council and Stoke-on-Trent City Council on the 20 January 2012 submitted the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Joint Waste Core Strategy 2010- 2026 Development Plan Document to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government for independent examination. This is a strategy for how to manage all the waste produced in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent for the period up to 2026, setting out where, when and how new waste management facilities will be developed and assessed. When adopted, this strategy will replace the existing Waste Local Plan in guiding the determination of waste planning applications. The following documents have been submitted along with an evidence base of supporting information and are available for inspection: • Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Joint Waste Core Strategy 2010-2026 (Publication Document and Appendices, September 2011); • Representations on the Publication Document; • Schedule of Minor Amendments (January 2012); • Sustainability Appraisal Final Report on Publication Joint Waste Core Strategy (September 2011). Members of the public may inspect a ‘Document Library’ containing the submission documents and an evidence base of supporting documents relevant to the preparation of the Joint Waste Core Strategy, during normal opening hours at: Staffordshire County Council Stoke-on-Trent City Council No. 1 Staffordshire Place, Civic Centre, Glebe St, Stoke-on- Stafford, ST16 2LP Trent, ST4 1RF The ‘Document Library’, and copies of all documents as submitted on 20 January 2012, are also available to view online at the County Councils website www.staffordshire.gov.uk/wcs. If any additional documents are requested by the Planning Inspector during the course of the examination, the ‘Document Library’ will be updated online.
