Horstmann (2007): On the host relationships of European species of Ichneumon Linnaeus (Insecta, Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, Ichneumoninae). – Spixiana 30/1: 39-63 For 64 European species of Ichneumon host relationships were ascertained by two methods: by exposing laboratory-bred host pupae (rarely larvae) to fi eld-collected parasitoid females (49 species), and by rearing parasitoids from fi eld-collected host pupae (31 species). In 16 cases both methods were used, with concurring results. For many species information on life history (e.g. oviposition behaviour, number of generations) is provided. Mus. natn. hung. 86: 79-83. Abstract - Material collected in Spain and preserved in the Hungarian Natural History Museum belonging to the subfamily Ichneumoninae is studied. The 28 species belong into 6 tribes: Ichneumonini, Listrodomini, Phaeoge- nini, Protichneumonini, Trogini and Zimmerini. Three of them arc highly important: Neotypus intermedins inter­ medins MOCSÁRY, 1883 is a species from Spain whose type is studied, Cotiheresiarches dims (WESMAEL, 1853) and Cratichneumon fugitivus (GRAVENHORST, 1829) are first records for the Iberian fauna. INTRODUCTION The Hungarian Natural History Museum houses a good series of Ichneumonidae species. We also had the opportunity to examine a considerable number of Mediterranean specimens. Howewer, all these species are badly in need of an exhaustive reclassification. Our main objective was to present new data regarding the Spanish species of Ichneumoninae, that accumulated in the Hymenoptera Collection in Budapest. Although the largest part of the Collection is based on materials obtained by SZÉPLIGETI and MocsÁRY, in this study we were highly interested in that part of KRIECHBAUMER'S Collection (mainly collected by KORB and placed in Munich: SELFA 1992) which was deposited here. Similarly, a long series of specimens recently collected by J. & A. PODLUSSÁNY was also taken into consideration. Twenty-eight species from the tribes Ichneumonini, Listrodomini, Phaeogenini, Protichneu­ monini, Trogini and Zimmerini are discussed.

Totally, 126 and 64 specimens were collected from the subfamilies Cryptinae and Ichneumoninae, respectively representing 25 species into 20 genera. Of them four genera and five species are recorded for the first time from Iran as following: Acrolyta Förster , 1869, Ceratophygadeuon Viereck , 1924, Eudelus Förster , 1869 and Mevesia Holmgren, 1890, Ceratophygadeuon varicornis (Thomson, 1884), Chirotica maculipennis (Gravenhorst, 1829), Eudelus gumperdensis (Schmiedeknecht, 1893), Mevesia arguta (Wesmael, 1845) and Virgichneumon albilineatus (Gravenhorst, 1829). Also a checklist of subfamilies Ichneumoninae and Cryptinae in Iran is provided. With new data of current research, the number of identified species of the subfamily Cryptinae of Iran and of the Hyrcanian forests biome increased to 128 and 39 species and for Ichneumoninae increased to 191 and 115, respectively.

The parasitoid family Ichneumonidae is the largest family in the order Hymenoptera. This chapter provides a checklist of 1,160 ichneumonid species (299 genera) known from the Canadian Prairies Ecozone. The list is primarily drawn from literature records and also includes 35 newly recorded species from the ecozone. The number of species on the list is a vast underestimate of the number of ichneumonid species present, as many genera lack revisions and few biodiversity surveys have been conducted. Most species recorded from this ecozone are only known from the Nearctic region, but are not restricted to the Prairies Ecozone. Little is known about the ecology, habitat requirements, or host associations of most ichneumonid species, with 43% of the species on the checklist lacking any host records. Future research should include revisions of the many genera that have not been studied in the Nearctic region, as well as biodiversity surveys in prairie habitats, rearing of potential host species, and the creation of user-friendly identification resources. Résumé. Les guêpes parasitoïdes de la famille des Ichneumonidae forment la plus grande famille de l’ordre des hyménoptères. Le présent chapitre dresse la liste des 1 160 espèces de cette famille, réparties en 299 genres, présentes dans l’écozone des prairies. In Norway, 1583 different Ichneumonid species have been reported so far. The present survey gives distributional records for 98 additional species of the family Ichneumonidae (Hymenoptera) previously not known from Norway. 21 of them have hitherto not been reported from Scandinavia, including the first Palaearctic record ofSyrphophilus tricinctus (Ashmead, 1902).
