Without Shul: A Guide Parshat Tazria-/Rosh Chodesh

Friday Evening (30 Nissan 1st Day Rosh Chodesh) • is the entire service without saying the repetition and kedusha before kabbalat shabbat and before sunset (Sunset 5:22pm) o It is Rosh Chodesh so add Ya’aleh v’Yavo • Kabbalat Zoom Service will be at 4:30pm • Candle Lighting is 5:04pm • Kabbalat Shabbat as per usual- from Yedid Nefesh until Mizmor Shir L’yom Hashabbat o Mizmor Shir is when one formally accepts Shabbat so no further melacha should be done after it. • Maariv is regular service except: o No Barchu o No Kaddish o It is Rosh Chodesh so add Ya’aleh v’Yavo o No v’ychulu and magen avot • We count the 16th day of the Omer

Saturday Morning (1st Iyyar 2nd Day Rosh Chodesh) • Shema should be said before 8:31am and Amida before 9:39am • Service begins as normal o Blessings o Pesukei d’Zimra (Baruch she’Amar-Shochen Ad) • We don’t say: o Kaddish o Barchu o Repitition of Amida o reading or o Second Yekum purkan, Misheberach and prayers for Government, Israel and IDF o Repitition of Amida or Mussaf Amida • of Shacharit add Ya’aleh v’Yavo • Half-hallel followed by Ashrei • Amidah of Musaf NB: on pg.466 say the lower half of the page for Rosh Chodesh • Ein k’Elokeinu, Aleinu, Shir shel Yom and Barchi Nafshi • It is advisable to read or study the weekly at some point over Shabbat o Haftarah is for Rosh Chodesh • should be said before lunch or any eating after doverning

Mincha • One should daven Mincha before eating se‘udah shlishit. • It is Rosh Chodesh so add Ya’aleh v’Yavo • No tzidkatcha • Se‘udah shlishit should begin before sunset, and may extend as long as one likes. After benching, or after 10 minutes post-sunset (whichever is later), one may not eat or drink anything except water until after . • One should not daven Maariv on Saturday night until after Shabbat is over (this 5:59pm); preferably, one should not do any melacha before davening Maariv (with atah chonantanu) or making Havdalah.

Maariv • Baruch Hashem L’Olam is omitted in Maariv when not davening with a minyan. • The rest of Maariv, including additions for motza’ei Shabbat, is recited as usual. • Havdala after Maariv
