Abstract: StudiesontheofTurkishcoastshavebeengoingonsince1988.Asaresultofthesestudies,atotalof43 havebeendetermined,comprising11speciesfromtheSeaofMarmara,38fromtheAegeanSeaand24fromthe MediterraneanSea.WithrespecttootherstudiescarriedoutexcludingTurkishcoasts,theeasternMediterraneancephalopodfauna hasincreasedto51species.

Amongthespeciesdetermined, Ancistrocheiruslesueurii and Ancistroteuthislichtensteini arenewrecordsfortheeastern Mediterranean;Sepiettaobscura,Ancistrocheiruslesueurii,Ancistroteuthislichtensteini andTremoctopusviolaceusfortheAegean Sea;andmedia,Rossiamacrosoma andEledonecirrhosa fortheMediterraneancoastofTurkey.

Türkiyek›y›lar›d›fl›ndayap›landi¤erçal›flmalar›ndade¤erlendirilmesiylebirlikteDo¤uAkdenizCephalopodafaunas›51türe yükseltilmifltir.

ResultsandDiscussion ofthespecieswasreportedfromtheAegeanSeaby Thenumberofcephalopodspeciesreportedfromthe Lefkaditouetal.(33).Inthepresentstudy,anadult MediterraneanbyMangoldandBoletzky(1)was59, specimenof A.lesueurii isreportedforthefirsttime whichincreasedto64speciesbythecontributionsof fromtheAegeanSeaandforthesecondtimefromthe Stoloteuthisleucoptera recordedbyOrsiandMassi(26), MediterraneanSea.Thus,anadultspecimenofthis Spirulaspirula byBello(27),Sepiolaatlantica byWurtzet speciesisreportedforthefirsttimeintheeastern al.(28),Octopuscf.aegina andOctopoteuthismegaptera MediterraneanSea. bySalmanetal.(15).AlaterworkofVossetal.(29), AccordingtoPorandDimentman(34),theLevantSea whorevisedthefamilyHistioteuthidae,revealedthat possessesthemostoligotrophicwatersofthe Histioteuthiselongata (previouslytreatedasadistinct Mediterranean,resultinginadecreaseinthediversityof species)istheadultformof Histioteuthisreversa.Thus, marinebiotaandasynchronousincreaseinLessepsian membersofthefamilyHistioteuthidae,previouslyknown immigrants.Thisisinaccordancewiththefacatthatthe tocomprise3species,werereducedto2speciesbythis faunaoftheLevantSeaandtheMediterraneancoastsof study.Inthiscontext,theMediterraneancephalopod Turkeyisrepresentedby43species(68%ofthe faunaalsodecreasedto63species.Aninvestigationof Mediterranean).Therelativelylownumberofspeciesin speciesdistributionmapsgivenbyMangoldandBoletzky theAegeanSeaandtheoccurrenceoftheLessepsian (1)indicatesthepresenceof32speciesinTurkishseas, migrantOctopuscf.aegina alongAegeancoastssupports whichincreasedto43specieswiththepresentstudy. thesestatements.
