Coleoptera, Cerambycidae) Bntomojauna ZEITSCHRIFT FÜR ENTOMOLOGIE Band 9, Heft 12 ISSN 0250-4413 Linz, l.Juli 1988 Neues zur Taxonomie und Faunistik der Bockkäferfauna der Türkei (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae) Karl Adlbauer Abstract Faunistical and partly biological remarks from 153 Ce- rambycidae-speci.es and -subspecies are given. The exi- stence of 5 taxa is reported from Turkey for the first time, 4 other taxa get a new Status: Stenurella bifasci- aia ssp. nigrosuturalis (REITTER,l895) stat.n., Cerambyx scopolii ssp. nitidus PIC,l892, stat.n., Molorchus ster- bai HEYROVSKY, 1936, stat.n. and Stenopterus atricornis PIC, 1891, stat.n. One species - Molorchus tenuitarsis HOLZSCHUH,198l, - is a new synonym and 2 subspecies are described: Cortodera humeralis orientalis ssp.n. and Mo- lorchus kiesenwetteri anatolicus ssp.n. The first record of the longhorn beetle Chlorophorus herbstii (Brahm, 1790) (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae) from Norway. Norwegian Journal of Entomology 59, 59–62. In this paper we present the first records of the longhorn beetleChlorophorus herbstii (Brahm, 1790) from Hole, Buskerud in Norway. The species was found in a southwest faced stone scree with a mixed composition of tree species, dominated by lime. Several rare and red listed species of Coleoptera and Hymenoptera were found at the same site, indicating a high variety of insects dependent on trees in different stages of decomposition. Ecology and distribution of the species is briefly discussed. Key words: Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Chlorophorus herbstii, Norway. Per Kristian Solevåg, Barlindveien 9D, NO-3408 Tranby, Norway. Munis Entomology & Zoology, 9 (2): 687-712] ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to create a Turkish Red List of the longicorn beetles. Moreover, presence such a Red List is necessary for Turkey. Even governmental evaluations could cause some erroneous decisions due to absence such a Red List. Since, governmental evaluations at the present time are based on the works that are realized with respect to the European Red List. Furthernore, Turkey appears a continental property changeable in very short distances in terms of climatical features and field structures. So, the status of European fauna and the status of Turkish fauna are not the same. Clearly, there is no any work that subjected to create a Turkish Red List except Parts I-VII. Hence, a series work is planned with this purpose. This type of study is the eighth attempt for Turkey. KEY WORDS: Red List, Conservation, Cerambycidae, Turkey. The purpose of the current study was to create a Turkish Red List of longicorn beetles similarly to “European Red List of Saproxylic Beetles” that was compiled by Ana Nieto & Keith N. A. Alexander and published by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) in collaboration with the European Union in 2010.

  • Bugs & Beasties of the Western Rhodopes
Bugs and Beasties of the Western Rhodopes (a photoguide to some lesser-known species) by Chris Gibson and Judith Poyser [email protected] Yagodina At Honeyguide, we aim to help you experience the full range of wildlife in the places we visit. Generally we start with birds, flowers and butterflies, but we don’t ignore 'other invertebrates'. In the western Rhodopes they are just so abundant and diverse that they are one of the abiding features of the area. While simply experiencing this diversity is sufficient for some, as naturalists many of us want to know more, and in particular to be able to give names to what we see. Therein lies the problem: especially in eastern Europe, there are few books covering the invertebrates in any comprehensive way. Hence this photoguide – while in no way can this be considered an ‘eastern Chinery’, it at least provides a taster of the rich invertebrate fauna you may encounter, based on a couple of Honeyguide holidays we have led in the western Rhodopes during June. We stayed most of the time in a tight area around Yagodina, and almost anything we saw could reasonably be expected to be seen almost anywhere around there in the right habitat. Most of the photos were taken in 2014, with a few additional ones from 2012. While these creatures have found their way into the lists of the holiday reports, relatively few have been accompanied by photos. We have attempted to name the species depicted, using the available books and the vast resources of the internet, but in many cases it has not been possible to be definitive and the identifications should be treated as a ‘best fit’.

Introduction Braconinae is a large subfamily of cyclostomes group of parasitic wasps in the family Braconidae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonoidea). They constitute more than 2900 described species that are mostly tropical and subtropical (YU et al. 2012). Members of this subfamily are often black, red, orange and/or white in colours. They are small to medium-sized insects, characterized by their concave labrum, absence of epicnemial carina, absence of occipital carina, females have extended ovipositor (SHARKEY 1993).

W. T., J. R. Coulson, P. H. Dunn, and P. E. Boldt. 1981. Insects and fungi associated with Carduus thistles (Com positae). U.S. Department of Agriculture, Technical Bulletin No. 1616, 100 pp. Six Eurasian species of Carduus thistles (Compositae: Cynareael are troublesome weeds in North America. They are attacked by about 340 species of phytophagous insects, including 71 that are oligophagous on Cynareae. Of these Eurasian insects, 39 were ex tensively tested for host specificity, and 5 of them were sufficiently damf..ghg and stenophagous to warrant their release as biological control agents in North America. They include four beetles: Altica carduorum Guerin-Meneville, repeatedly released but not estab lished; Ceutorhynchus litura (F.), established in Canada and Montana on Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop.; Rhinocyllus conicus (Froelich), widely established in the United States and Canada and beginning to reduce Carduus nutans L. populations; Trichosirocalus horridus ~Panzer), established on Carduus nutans in Virginia; and the fly Urophora stylata (F.), established on Cirsium in Canada.

A new catalogue of the Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) of Israel with notes on their distribution and host plants. Munis Entomology & Zoology, 5 (1): 1-51] ABSTRACT: A new Catalogue of the Cerambycidae from Israel is proposed with details on their distribution and host plants. A total of 104 species representing 65 genera and 5 subfamilies are recorded. All taxa mentioned by previous authors are quoted and discussed; a list of species to be excluded from the Israeli Cerambycid fauna is provided. Seven species are regarded as new records for Israel. KEY WORDS: Invertebrates, Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Catalogue, Israel, east Mediterranean, new records. Longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae) are a group of insects belonging to the most attractive taxa for collectors all over the world. To date more than 25,000 species of Cerambycidae have been described worldwide, and there are possibly many more.
