The Society is an independent, self-governing, bilingual, and pan-disciplinary organisaon covering all Wales. Established in May 2010, as a company limited by guarantee, the Society was granted the status of a Registered Charity in April 2011. In March 2014, His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, accepted the Society’s invitaon to become its Royal Patron for an inial period of five years. During 2013/14, the Society began the process of applying for a Royal Charter. This was awarded by the Queen in 2015.
