1 WELCOME MESSAGE

Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the organising committee, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the SingHealth Duke-NUS Surgical & Anaesthesia Congress 2017 at Academia, SGH Campus.

This year’s theme, Collaborating to Advance Surgical & Anaesthetic Care, reflects the importance ofcross- disciplinary care that draws on the collective strengths of healthcare professionals from the Surgical, Musculoskeletal and Anaesthesia disciplines.

The two-day programme will comprise more than 40 plenary sessions and multi-disciplinary symposiums for doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.

For the experiential learners among us, a series of procedural and team-based simulation workshops will enable you to hone your skills further.

We are honoured to have highly esteemed local and international speakers who are trailblazers in their fields. They include Professor Paris Tekkis from the Imperial College London, who is a renowned expert in surgical health services research and Dr Archie Brain, a prominent anaesthesiologist who invented the laryngeal mask airway.

Professor Howard Levinson, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon from Duke University Medical Center who is at the forefront of translational research, will also be joining us to share on how basic science research is being integrated into advances in surgical implants.

We wish you a fulfilling experience at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Surgical & Anaesthesia Congress 2017.
