Echoing that ideal in this issue, we recap the highlights of the IHH Quality Summit in AKuala Lumpur, where quality improvements and achievements by our teams are recognised and celebrated (Page 8). To advance clinical excellence and services, we unveiled our plans to launch the region’s first Proton Beam Therapy Centre at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital in 2021 (Page 14). Our Malaysia Operations Division also introduced new equipment and tests to benefit patients across the peninsula (Page 16). We continue to deliver on our mission to make a difference in people’s lives. In a show of support for academia and education, a new S$2 million Mount Elizabeth-Gleneagles Graduate Scholarship Fund with Duke-NUS Medical School was recently established (Page 20). Through our Life Renewed programme in Singapore and Malaysia, we continue to bring hope to the less fortunate by providing free medical treatment in our hospitals (Page 22 & 24). -

Introduction Singapore was the first country in the region to officially articulate an aim to attract medical tourists and promote the export of health services overseas. In 2003, the Healthcare Services Working Group (HSWG) of the Economic Review Committee recommended that Singapore attract one million foreign patients by 2012. To achieve this goal, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), along with the Economic Development Board (EDB) and International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, launched SingaporeMedicine in 2003, a multi-agency initiative that aims to promote, develop and maintain Singapore as an international medical hub. However, in recent years, the push for medical tourism has been muted. Sectiononeof this paper summarizes the Singapore context for a past medical tourism hub policy, followed by an overview of the health system, with policy implications for the system should medical tourism become a major growth area. Methodology is then described in section two, followed by the findings of the SWOT analysis conducted among stakeholders in the health services sector. 111 The objective of this paper is to: 1. Undertake a SWOT analysis for the health services sector in Singapore. 2. Undertake an analysis of policies/regulatory/institutional support for the health services sector in Singapore. 3. Develop a profiling of firms which are considered key players for the health services industry. -

The ultimate forum where these interchanges occur is at the Annual Meeting of the Engineering and Urology Society held in conjunction with the Annual American Urological Association Meeting. The EUS meeting is also the only dedicated section of the Endourology Society at the AUA. The Annual Meeting of the Engineering and Urology Society offers the delegates an opportunity to present and learn about the latest research developments in urologic technology. The morning session consists of state of the art lectures and discussions in cutting-edge areas of technology. The afternoon poster sessions and ever-growing subgroup meetings allow members to present their work, discuss, and obtain further feedback and ideas from fellow technophiles. This year’s 29th Annual Meeting will take place on May 17th, and has been organized by program chairmen Stavros Gravas, Bodo Knudsen, and M. Pilar Laguna. The morning sessions will begin with a thought- provoking discussion on the intersection of lab training and new imaging technology and urology. Following that, the spotlight is turned to advances in evidence making in uro-technology. What is a Letter of Guarantee (“LOG”)? The LOG is a letter issued by AIA Singapore Private Limited to selected Singapore Government Restructured Hospitals, Private Hospitals and Medical Institutions for full or partial waiver of hospital upfront cash deposit in the event of hospitalisation and/or surgery. However, the policyholders may be required to settle the hospital bills following the hospital discharge. 2. What type of medical policy is entitled to the LOG service? The LOG service is only offered to Medisave‐approved Integrated AIA HealthShield Gold series* policyholders. Non‐integrated medical policy (such as AIA Pink Of Health, Hospital & Surgical Benefit Rider, AIA HealthShield Gold Max Foreigner, Comprehensive Medical Plan, AIA Platinum Heath, etc.) are not entitled to the LOG service. *AIA HealthShield Gold series plans include AIA HealthShield Gold Plan A, AIA HealthShield Gold Plan A Public Service, AIA HealthShield Gold Prestige, AIA HealthShield Gold Prestige Public Service, AIA HealthShield Gold Elite, AIA HealthShield Gold Elite Special, AIA HealthShield Gold Max and AIA HealthShield Gold Max Special.
