Two Words: You can download low-tech boards here: https://saltillo.com/chatcorner/content/29 • There is a lot of language that occurs while cooking and baking! And there are many things you can focus on, such as: o Following directions: one step, two step, etc. o Concepts: in/out, a little/a lot, big/little, wet/dry, some, a few, etc. o Time/Ordinal Directions: first, next, then, last, etc. o Functional Tasks: numbers, measuring, etc. Three (+) Words: • Cooking is a natural activity, so remember to keep your modeling and language natural. Try to avoid making the task all about requesting items or asking for more. o Instead, try using parallel talk. Talk about what you are doing. Share information on what needs to be done next. o Don’t anticipate the AAC user’s needs. Let them try and wait until they ask for help! © 2019 PRC-Saltillo.
