Maple River Eagle Softball Parent Expectations

Parents are expected to:

• Encourage our team with positive and comments. ~ yelling at your daughter is distracting for her and her team ~ negative or rude comments makes you, your team, your school & community look bad. ~ coaches will handle anything that went “wrong” in the game either during the game or during practice.

• Respect what the coaches are trying to accomplish with the team and with individual players. ~it is very hard for a high school player to try to “please” two different people they care about when those two are at odds. Do not put your daughter in the middle if YOU disagree with how their team is run. ~softball (sports) teaches so many lessons that go far beyond the game itself. ~remember there are MANY ways to be successful in this game, it depends on what the team believes in. ~help your daughter achieve her goals and meet the expectations of her team.

• Be good role models of sportsmanship and respect. ~negative comments, raised voices or aggressive behaviors toward an opposing team, an official, an Eagle softball player or a coach is not acceptable ! ~talk with your daughter about disappointments or frustrations in a way in which it becomes a learning experience.

• Follow the guidelines set up by the MSHSL system in regards to parent behavior. Above the Line!!

• Allow the players to play, the coache s to coach and the officials to officiate! ~Remember, this is your DAUGHTERS time to participate, to learn and to grow! ~Players want to focus during the game and have requested that people do not talk to them during the game. Save any constructive comments for home after a cooling off period. ~As coaches, we are striving to teach your player softball skills; but also responsibility, commitment, accountability and discipline. STAR QUALITIES will stay with your daughter well beyond her high school playing years.
