Using this information 1. If the column is blank, the school does not teach children in that year group 2. A "no" means there are no spaces in the year group. It is full. A "yes" means there may be a place in the year group in the school. 3. There may only be one space available, or there could be several spaces in the year. This information is a guide only, it is possible that any vacancy may have been offered out before your application is received. These figures are not a guarantee that a place would be available in the school for your child. 4. If more people apply to a school than places available, all applications are ranked against the oversubscription criteria for the school regardless of the date received. The place would be offered to the child who ranked highest on the list. Read the school's admission policy to understand how places are allocated. These are published on the schools' webpages at www.newcastle.gov.uk/admissions 5. • Edition 10: 20Th September 2013
Edition 10: 20th September 2013 Rugby World Cup 2015 Lead Up and Legacy Activity The RFU launched the seven strands of its national Lead up and Legacy plan on October 31st 2012. The aim of this is to set out an overall framework against which national resource will be invested in the lead up to RWC 2015 with the aim of increasing interest and participation in the game. Whilst many Clubs, CBs, Schools, Colleges, Universities and other bodies are working hard to develop local projects to meet identified local need these seven strands are areas in which we will invest national resource to create change in Rugby communities across the country. It is hoped that those delivery bodies that have not yet identified their focus will focus in on these areas and take action to improve provision and opportunities against these themes. Six Regional Activation and Legacy Groups are now up and running and are working to add value to the seven strands and to engage partners from outside of the immediate rugby community in supporting the efforts of those within it. Each group is populated by representatives from CBs and from the wider community. Attached as an appendix to this CB update is a brief overview of progress against the seven strands along with listings of clubs/projects etc involved to date – this will be updated for each issue. In addition to the work against the seven strands strong working relationships have been established with England Rugby 2015, the Organising Body for the tournament itself, and an update on relevant areas are also included in the appendix.

LBP0018 Written evidence submitted by The Northern Powerhouse Education Consortium Education Select Committee Left behind white pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds Inquiry SUBMISSION FROM THE NORTHERN POWERHOUSE EDUCATION CONSORTIUM Introduction and summary of recommendations Northern Powerhouse Education Consortium are a group of organisations with focus on education and disadvantage campaigning in the North of England, including SHINE, Northern Powerhouse Partnership (NPP) and Tutor Trust. This is a joint submission to the inquiry, acting together as ‘The Northern Powerhouse Education Consortium’. We make the case that ethnicity is a major factor in the long term disadvantage gap, in particular white working class girls and boys. These issues are highly concentrated in left behind towns and the most deprived communities across the North of England. In the submission, we recommend strong actions for Government in particular: o New smart Opportunity Areas across the North of England. o An Emergency Pupil Premium distribution arrangement for 2020-21, including reform to better tackle long-term disadvantage. o A Catch-up Premium for the return to school. o Support to Northern Universities to provide additional temporary capacity for tutoring, including a key role for recent graduates and students to take part in accredited training. About the Organisations in our consortium SHINE (Support and Help IN Education) are a charity based in Leeds that help to raise the attainment of disadvantaged children across the Northern Powerhouse. Trustees include Lord Jim O’Neill, also a co-founder of SHINE, and Raksha Pattni. The Northern Powerhouse Partnership’s Education Committee works as part of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership (NPP) focusing on the Education and Skills agenda in the North of England.

  • Rutter Carroll RYDER to Maintain Consistency of Output Over 60 Years of Practice Is a Tough Call
RYDER Rutter Carroll RYDER_ To maintain consistency of output over 60 years of practice is a tough call. We have PREFACE never tried to change; we have simply tried to improve the quality of our surroundings, and in doing so, the quality of people’s lives. PETER Looking back there is a remarkable consistency of approach, and in many ways this interests us more than the product. After all, the product is a product of the approach, BUCHAN it kind of looks after itself. The ‘what’ of ‘what we do’ is about simplicity, usefulness, elegance. To continue to improve this we have become increasingly obsessed with the ‘how’ of our architecture. The ‘how’ is about developing the best people and creating organisations that allow them to grow and contribute, to achieve what we collectively define as excellence. It has been quite a journey, and it is only in hindsight that one begins to read the patterns. Most of the time we are so committed to dealing with the present and considering the future that there is a little opportunity, or indeed desire, to reflect on the past. The connections to the two postwar pioneers, Gordon Ryder and Peter Yates, seem tenuous and potent in equal measure. In turn, their own connections to the legacy of Berthold Lubetkin and Le Corbusier seem now equally tenuous yet potent. There is something powerful in the collective memory and culture of an organisation; sometimes carried forward by individuals, often at times by a surge of a whole group. It shapes what we do. This is why we have been so taken up with the ‘how’, and we have striven to build a collective, a shared culture and vision that runs through the whole organisation, wherever its people are located.

The aims were to develop Harewood as a rich learning resource – a place for inspiration and creativity - to change the public perception of Harewood as a place of infinite educational possibility and to develop Harewood as a vital educational resource for the region. The Research Centre for Museums and Galleries (RCMG) was approached in November 2002 to evaluate this three-year programme. The evaluation of the Open minds programme is a requirement of the Heritage Lottery Fund and is critical to inform future education and learning developments at Harewood House Trust.
