Not only is this talented young lady a versatile performer, but she is also an experienced costumer. Her credits include S)CMT, Marriott's Great America, "Li'l Abner", "Oliver", "Carousel" and most recently, the female lead in "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" for Saratoga Drama Group. She is recreating this title role which she performed for SCP 8 years ago. Dee Dee is a Documentation Coordinator for Avantek and we're happy to have her back on our stage. Oh yes, she happens to be married to the director.

SCOTT HERMAN Donald S. Marshall, III A former Navy pilot who now flies commercially for Viking Freight System, Scott makes time for theater and this is his fourth appearance in a WVLO production. He earned a ERMA Award for "Kiss Me Kate.", then came "West Side Story" and he played two performances as Professor Higgins in "My Fair Lady". He has also been seen with CP in "Mister Roberts" and "Arsenic and Old Lace" and in Saratoga Drama Group's "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers". A very versatile talent, Scott is also a model and has done several commercials and local ads. A charming personality and winning smile make our 'Donald' a joy to work with and creates a friendly atmosphere. It's always a pleasure to have scott in our cast.

DOUG BAIRD Madame Lucy In the 23 years he has been doing shows, this is only Doug's fourth appearance with WVLO, but his last performance as Colonel Pickering in "My Fair Lady" was one of the most memorable. Since then he has performed in "Evita" and "Barnum" with San Jose Civic Light Opera and in "Cinderella" with Saratoga Drama Group. He is the recipient of three Ginny Awards and a three-time winner of the Gypsy Robe. Doug's wonderful talent, versatility and affability make him a popular cast member. He's come a long way from his first stage appearance--singing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" in the fifth grade. We're glad you grew up, Doug.

MARGE HAND Geraldine O'Dare This is the 21st performance with West Valley Light Opera, she played Mrs. Pearce in "My Fair Lady" last fall. Her credits are numerous and include some 50 productions in Bay Area over the past 25 years. Her German-Irish background provides the basis of this character and she has wanted to do this role for several years. We're pleased to give her the opportunity. As a self-employed Computer Services Contractor, she keeps very busy with work, Tech Director Ed, and three daughters who check in with her occasionally. She is also involved in the Quota Club of West Valley which is dedicated to help the hearing impaired. That's the great organization that has done much to make the public aware of the problems encountered by the hearing impaired. PAMELA REEDER Mrs. Marshall Pamela also appeared in "My Fair Lady", as Mrs. Higgins and so is celebrating her fourth appearance with WVLO. She was in "Marne" and "". She directs and performs in variety shows for local service clubs for charity events and was also seen in "Anything Goes", "Music Man", "Little Night Music",and "Oliver". Pamela wants us to thank her wonderful husband, jack, who leaves his beloved ham radio to drive her to rehearsals and who is so nervous of the freeways, she rides in the back seat. So thank you, jack, we're grateful to you for letting Pamela do this wonderful role.

DOUGLAS HAGDOHL, II Ozzie Another return form "My Fair Lady", Doug was our Professor Higgins and a very memorable one, too. A recipient of a Ginny Award, DouG has performed in "1776", "Guys and Dolls", "Music Man", was a singer.at Great America for two years, and entertained at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. He has directed "Sound of Music", "Carousel", "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" and "They're Playing Our Song". He has studied Music and Theater Artsat SjSU and is a cashier/clerk at Sav-On Drugs. Now that we have Doug returning todoa character, we hope it's a good sign we will see more of him.

CHRISSIE SOLANDRO Helen Burke Returning to our stage after her delightful portrayal of Ruby in "Dames at Sea", Chrissie accepts another challenging role. Her previous acting credits include Bonnie in "Anything Goes", Dolly Tate in "Annie Get Your Gun", "Bye, Bye Birdie",and "Wizard of Oz". She has also directed "Robin Hood" and "Oklahoma" for SCP junior Theater. She studied dance with Marie Stinnet and appeared in several Leigh High School productions. She was recently accepted at Santa Clara University to major in Theater Arts after completing two years of course work at West Valley College. No doubt we will see her in the future on the Louis B. Mayer Stage on the University campus. A "bubbly and busy" personality, Chrissie enjoys bike riding, camping and her little dog named "Moses". Wonder if he came with his own set of Ten Commandments?

TAMMY NELSON Jane McFudd Tammy made her first appearance with WVLO in "Sugar" as Sweet Sue and has been going full speed ahead in theater ever since with performances in "My Fair Lady" and "Dames At Sea" and just completed the role of one of the ugly stepsisters in "Cinderella" for SDG. A great talent, voice and personality, she makes the perfect Financial Service Representative for Great Western Savings and loan. She got started in community theater by asking to have her name put on "The List" to be notified of upcoming shows and look where she is now--modeling on Ninth Avenue. Welcome Back, Tammy, or have you been gone?

GRATEFUL ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS ...

Levya School, Abraham Lincoln High School, John Healy, Alan Hadis, Gene Collinge, San Jose Civic Light Opera, Saratoga Drama Group, Universityof Santa Clara, Arthur Mintz, Grantree Furniture, Dr. Art Garcia IN MEMORIAM ENID B. MAURICE December 22, 1898 - June 10, 1986

This production is being dedicated to the memory of Enid Maurice, one of community theater's most avid supporters. In 1964, she and her late husband, Ross Maurice, were two of the first contributors to West Valley Light Opera Assosciation. Until Ross's death in 1980, both worked diligently to keep the Association 'alive and well' in order to provide a showcase of talented performers in the Bay Area. Being a real 'trouper' herself, Enid hascarried on these past years in spite of her failing eyesight and weak heart. She was always here to hand out our programs and greet those subscribers and friends she'd made through the years. Enid made her final curtain call on June 10, 1986. Even though she never performed on our stage, she was our 'Grand Lady of the Theater' and will be sorely missed. Bravo, Enid, and thanks for giving so much of yourself to help others.

BEHIND THE SCENES You may have noticed the words "Saratoga City Council" above our front door and wondered why it did not say "West Valley Light Opera Association" or "Saratoga Civic Theater". This building is like the players on its stage- it wears many masks and costumes depending on the role it's playing. During the week it accommodates the City Council of Saratoga, and on most weekends of the year, a theater group rents the building. West Valley Light Opera Association is only one group that calls this building 'home' and asyou may know, we produce three shows a year. We own our own sets, lighting system, costumes and have our own Board of Directors. Our subsidiary, Angels Unlimited, offers refreshments in the lobby during our performances for your enjoyment. The other groups that share this building maintain their own Board of Directors, sets, lights, costumes and production schedules. We are what you might call 'roommates' who pay rent to the Cityof Saratoga for the use of this builing. The City uses it during the week for its own Council and Planning meetings. Therefore, even though we all share the use of this building, each group must move in and out for each production since there are no storage facilities here, and must totally clear the stage area for the weekly use of the City. You can see why we especially value our stage managers and technicians. As a courtesy to each other, we run notices of other groups' performance dates and titles in our programs even though we have no affiliation other than shared use of this building. We appreciate your continued support. If you have enjoyed our production, please tell your friends and relatives, join our organization and bring your neighbors with you to our next production. CAPTAIN'S CAPE AWARD At the end of the 79-80 season, WVLO Board initiated a special award in memory of its late President, Captain R.P. Maurice. The "Captain's Cape" award, selected by the Director, is presented to a member of the chorus who has made an outstanding contribution to the success of the production.
