And there are huge flames and sparks coming from those guns!” “And look at all the people sittin’ on the opposite hill watching, hooting and holler - ing,” added Bratty. “We should go see if they take a hankerin’ to strangers.” “Wait just a second,” Sassy said. “I heard ‘em call everyone to the firing line with their Blackpowder shooters light up the night sky at shotguns.     Jim Levy, Irish Jewish Gunfighter of the Old West By William Rabinowitz It’s been a few quite a few years since Chandler, our grandson, was a little boy. His parents would come down with him every winter, free room and board, and happy Grandparents to baby sit. I doubt they actually came to visit much with the geriatrics but it was a free “vacation”. It is not always sun and surf and pool and hot in Boynton Beach, Fl. Sometimes it is actually cold and rainy here. Today was one of those cold and rainy days. Chandler has long since grown up into a typical American young person more interested in “connecting” in Cancun than vegetating in Boynton Beach anymore. I sat down on the sofa, sweatshirt on, house temperature set to “nursing home” hot, a bowl of popcorn, diet coke and turned on the tube. Speed channel surfing is a game I used to play with Chandler. We would sit in front of the T.V. and flip through the channels as fast as our fingers would move. The object was to try and identify the show in the micro second that the image flashed on the screen. Grandma Sheila sat in her sitting room away from the enervating commotion. She was always busy needle- pointing another treasured wall hanging that will need to be framed and sold someday at an estate sale. With my trusty channel changer at my side, I began flipping through the stations, scanning for something that would be of interest as fast as possible.

    Museum of American Finance AUDIO GUIDE TOUR 1 48 Wall Street/Murals The largest object on display at the Museum of American Finance isn’t the bull and bear statue or the statue of Alexander Hamilton. You’re actually standing INSIDE the largest object! In 1797 Alexander Hamilton’s Bank of New York laid the cornerstone for its first building right here at 48 Wall Street. You can see the cornerstone outside where William Street meets Wall Street. Hamilton founded the Bank in 1784 not long after the last of the British troops left American soil for good. The current building is the third Bank of New York headquarters on this site. It opened in 1929 and was active until the Bank acquired the Irving Trust Company and moved into its towering art deco skyscraper at 1 Wall Street in 1988. Like many bank buildings from this era, the architect Benjamin Wistar Morris designed the Grand Mezzanine to convey a sense of strength and power, both in its size and its extensive use of marble and limestone. These materials invoke a sense of security, making the building look like a solid fortress, protecting clients’ money at all costs. Remember, FDIC insurance didn’t come along until 1933. If you look up at the north and east walls of the Grand Mezzanine, you’ll see eight murals painted by J. Monroe Hewlett, an accomplished turn-of-the-century muralist. Alexander Hamilton is front and center in the murals on the north side. These depict scenes from the Bank of New York’s history.

The ‘televisual’ names a condition of transformation that is altering the coordinates through which we understand, theorize, intervene, and challenge contemporary media culture. Shifts in production practices, consumption circuits, technologies of distribution and access, and the aesthetic qualities of televisual texts foreground the dynamic place of television in the contemporary media landscape. American actress and singer Peggy Lipton passed away May 11, 2019. Her best-known acting role was as undercover cop Julie Barnes on The Mod Squad, 1968-1973. She won a new generation of fans when she ran the Double R Diner as Norma Jennings, in Twin Peaks. Doris Day was a big-band singer, TV and film actress, and talk-show host. She won several awards for comedy and popularity. She was also an activist for animal welfare, lending her star power to several organizations bearing her name. She died May 13, 2019. Domestic cat Tardar Sauce was better known as the meme she unwittingly founded: Grumpy Cat. Dwarfism contributed to her scowling face, which graced ads for Friskies and General Mills Honey Nut Cheerios. The frowning feline cashed in her lives on May 14, 2019. The career of the inspired Tim Conway began in 1962 and lasted through TV, movies, voice-overs, and video games. Among his noted appearances were the goofy Dorf; four years on McHale ‘s Navy; eleven years on The Carol Burnett Show; several solo TV shows; and as Barnacle Boy, 1999-2012, on SpongeBob SquarePants. Conway took his final bow on May 14, 2019. Born in China, I.M. Pei moved to America in 1935 and in 1948 became a professional architect. He designed the John F.
