Wie versprochen gibt es mit der vorliegen- den Ausgabe einen Sonder-Newsletter mit ausschließlich amerikanischen Neuan- kündigungen. Und die sind gleich so zahl- reich, dass es wieder einmal den gewohnten Rahmen von maximal 50 Seiten sprengt. Um Sie jedoch umfassend informieren zu können, war dies unabdingbar. Nicht etwa, dass das ein Problem wäre. Schon gar nicht bei der digitalen Version. Doch die Print- Ausgabe macht jetzt leider Handarbeit erforderlich. Denn unser Kopierer kann nicht mehr als 30 Blatt Papier (das sind genau 60 Seiten) automatisch heften. Nun ja, wir sehen das locker. Ein bisschen kör- perliche Arbeit hat noch niemandem ge- schadet. Um die Auslieferung des Newsletters nicht noch weiter zu verzö- gern und damit die Seitenzahl nicht astro- nomisch hoch wird, haben wir bewusst auf sämtliche Grafiken verzichtet. Dadurch wirkt die neue Ausgabe zwar gestalterisch etwas langweilig, aber der Informations- gehalt ist das was tatsächlich zählt. Und davon ist jede Menge vorhanden. Twenty-two years later, she is known as Meiko Kaji, a stunningly beautiful actress rapidly making a name for herself in Japanese cinema. She appears in numerous hit films, often playing tough knife and sword wielding outlaws and avengers. Not even thirty years old, and seemingly at the peak of her career, she suddenly largely withdraws from film acting. In 2003 and 2004, Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill martial arts action films hit theatres around the A HUISMAN RESEARCH PUBLICATION world to critical acclaim and commercial success. LA MUJER EN EL MANGA ERO-GURO DE SUEHIRO MARUO FRANCISCO JAVIER LÓPEZ, JUAN A. GARCÍA PACHECO Edición: TEBEOSFERA (2008, TEBEOSFERA) -2ª EPOCA- 9, 22-XII-2011 Resumen / Abstract: En Occidente se ha construido una imagen de lo japonés asociada al erotismo y la violencia, por lo que no es de extrañar que los cómics japoneses que presentan contenidos de este tipo hayan sido criticados y censurados. No obstante existe el género concreto del ero-guro, caracterizado por la combinación de elementos sexuales, violentos, grotescos, escatológicos y humorísticos, el cual puede ser considerado una continuación del clima cultural japonés reinante en las décadas de los años veinte y treinta del siglo pasado. El presente artículo se centra en el estudio de la mujer en la obra de uno de los autores de cómic ero-guro más conocidos internacionalmente, Suehiro Maruo. Así, tras establecer el marco teórico de los estudios de género en el manga y caracterizar el movimiento artístico del ero-guro, se analizan los personajes femeninos de Maruo para observar de qué modo es utilizada la mujer y en qué acciones violentas y sexuales se ve inmersa. Se trata de comprobar si la obra de este autor representa a la mujer como objeto sexual sometido o, por el contrario, abre una vía al cuestionamiento de arquetipos sociales tradicionales de la feminidad. Images of intense violence, bodies in pain and explicit images represent some of the most paradigmatic examples of Japanese Extreme Cinema. One of the main goals of this group of films is to produce in the viewers an affective response. In the contemporary moment, filmmakers use a wide variety of techniques to produce affect in Extreme films. The objective of this project is to survey the evolution of Extreme Cinema in Japan. Throughout the essay, I will analyze the most paradigmatic movies of three decades in order to point out how filmmakers produce extreme films. Desjardins, 1919–2003, who went through hell his last few years and was consequently unable to finish his own book on his pioneering work in electron microscopy (in the field of plant pathology). Also to my mother, Rosemary, who has had her own gauntlet to run in the last year and has managed to come out the other side. Both my parents have always been loyal, loving and there for me, never turning their backs on me during my extended period of raising hell. To my girl, Lynne Margulies, a truly great soulmate in all things, including the creative process. And to the memory of late director Kinji Fukasaku, a great inspiration to anyone daring to think of giving up in the face of adversity.
