Piers Morgan outrage over Brandpool celebrity trust survey Submitted by: Friday's Media Group Monday, 19 April 2010 Piers Morgan has expressed outrage at being voted the sixth least trusted celebrity brand ambassador in a survey by ad agency and creative content providers Brandpool. Writing in his Mail On Sunday column, the Britain’s Got Talent judge questioned the logic of the poll, which named the celebrities the public would most and least trust as the faces of an ad campaign. But Brandpool has hit back at Morgan for failing to recognise the purpose of its research. Morgan, who also neglected to credit Brandpool as the source of the study, said: “No real surprises on the Most Trusted list, which is led by ‘national treasures’ such as David Attenborough, Stephen Fry, Richard Branson and Michael Parkinson. “As for the Least Trusted list, I find the logic of this one quite odd. Katie Price, for example, comes top, yet I would argue that she’s one of the most trustworthy people I know… Then I suddenly pop up at No 6, an outrage which perhaps only I feel incensed about. Particularly as that smiley little rodent Russell Brand slithers in at No 7. Making me supposedly less trustworthy than a former heroin junkie and sex addict.” Morgan was also surprised to see Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Sharon Osbourne, Tom Cruise and Jonathan Ross in the Least Trusted list. However, he agreed with the inclusion of John Terry, Ashley Cole, Tiger Woods and Tony Blair, all of whom, he said, were “united by a common forked tongue”. -

A nivel mundial, el sector mueve, sólo en el terreno de las consolas, más de 44 billones de dólares. A esto hay que sumar un volumen de negocio creciente, pero aún no cuantificado con exactitud, procedente del mundo de las descargas, los juegos online, las redes sociales, los dispositivos móviles y otras ventanas de entretenimiento electrónico menos extendidas o aún emergentes. Por dar tan sólo un ejemplo de lo que esto puede representar, sólo en descargas digitales el mercado de EEUU superó los 5’8 billones de dólares durante 2010, un 36% del mercado (fuente NPD, empresa que controla los datos de ventas de videojuegos para el mercado de Estados Unidos). -

Film, Television and Video productions featuring brass bands Gavin Holman, October 2019 Over the years the brass bands in the UK, and elsewhere, have appeared numerous times on screen, whether in feature films or on television programmes. In most cases they are small appearances fulfilling the role of a “local” band in the background or supporting a musical event in the plot of the drama. At other times band have a more central role in the production, featuring in a documentary or being a major part of the activity (e.g. Brassed Off, or the few situation comedies with bands as their main topic). Bands have been used to provide music in various long-running television programmes, an example is the 40 or more appearances of Chalk Farm Salvation Army Band on the Christmas Blue Peter shows on BBC1. Bands have taken part in game shows, provided the backdrop for and focus of various commercial advertisements, played bands of the past in historical dramas, and more. This listing of 450 entries is a second attempt to document these appearances on the large and small screen – an original list had been part of the original Brass Band Bibliography in the IBEW, but was dropped in the early 2000s. Some overseas bands are included. Where the details of the broadcast can be determined (or remembered) these have been listed, but in some cases all that is known is that a particular band appeared on a certain show at some point in time - a little vague to say the least, but I hope that we can add detail in future as more information comes to light. -

Sir David Attenborough trounces young stars in Brandpool’s celebrity trust poll Submitted by: Friday's Media Group Friday, 9 April 2010 Sir David Attenborough trounces young stars in Brandpool’s celebrity trust poll Sir David Attenborough is the celebrity consumers would most trust as the figurehead for an advertising campaign, according to a survey commissioned by ad agency and creative content providers Brandpool. However, it was Katie Price who narrowly beat John Terry and Ashley Cole to be voted the least believable brand ambassador, followed by Amy Winehouse, Heather Mills, Tiger Woods and Tony Blair – the latter raising questions over Labour’s deployment of its former leader as a ‘secret weapon’ in the run-up to the election. The survey flies in the face of the Cebra study published last week by research agency Millward Brown, which indexed the appeal of celebrities in relation to certain brands. But Brandpool’s research suggests the popularity of young stars such as David Tennant, Cheryl Cole and David Beckham doesn’t always translate into trust. The poll saw 46% of respondents name Sir David as one of their top three choices, with Stephen Fry second on 36% and Richard Branson third on 20%. It was the elder statesmen of British broadcasting who dominated the top 10, with Michael Parkinson, Sir Terry Wogan, Sir David Dimbleby, Jeremy Paxman, Lord Alan Sugar and Jeremy Clarkson also highly rated. These silver-haired stars were favoured despite almost a third of respondents being under 35. And although an even split of men and women voted, the only female celebrity in the top 10 was The One Show presenter Christine Bleakley. -
Artscience Museum Reimagines Videogames with New Exhibition Virtual Realms: Videogames Transformed
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ArtScience Museum reimagines videogames with new exhibition Virtual Realms: Videogames Transformed Overcoming the challenges of the pandemic, the exhibition makes its global premiere in Singapore SINGAPORE (9 June 2021) – Visitors will be transported to a new dimension at ArtScience Museum’s latest exhibition, Virtual Realms: Videogames Transformed. Making its international debut in Singapore on 12 June, the exhibition showcases videogame creativity in six new installations that reshape how games can be experienced in virtual and physical realms. Co-curated by celebrated game designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi, in collaboration with the Barbican in London, Virtual Realms is a co-production with ArtScience Museum and Melbourne Museum. The new artworks presented in Virtual Realms are conceived by some of the world’s leading videogame developers, KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS (makers of DEATH STRANDING), Enhance (Tetsuya Mizuguchi and team behind Rez Infinite), thatgamecompany (authors of the game, Sky: Children of the Light), Tequila Works (the studio that made RiME), Media Molecule (creators of Dreams) and David OReilly (creator of the game, Everything). They have each developed a newly commissioned installation inspired by these games, working in collaboration with the media artists and design studios, Rhizomatiks, FIELD.IO, The Mill, Marshmallow Laser Feast, onedotzero and The Workers. The immersive exhibition introduces visitors to new ways of approaching and enjoying videogames through six key themes – SYNESTHESIA, UNITY, CONNECTION, PLAY, NARRATIVE and EVERYTHING. Appendix I has full details of each of the interactive experiences. “Virtual Realms is a multi-sensorial, interactive presentation of artworks inspired by videogames. To present the global premiere of this extraordinary exhibition at ArtScience Museum, we had to work together with our colleagues at the Barbican, and all the game designers and artists in the exhibition, on overcoming a myriad of challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic. -
