Dear Parents or Guardians,

You can create a new a new Apple ID or use an existing one for your child. If you need to create a new Apple ID, please follow one of the two methods below.

The one way we request you do not create a new Apple ID is to go through myappleid.apple.com. This method will ask you for a credit card to attach to the account. If you have already made your ID this way, we will have people on hand who can rectify this. However, if you are going into this for the first time, please follow the following steps.

From your iPad/iPhone:

 Go into the app on your device and check the bottom left hand corner to ensure no Apple ID is currently signed in.  Next you can search for a free app. “iTunes Remote” is a good app for this. Simply search for ”remote” and it should be the first app displayed.  When you click to get it, a pop up will ask how you to sign in. Create a new Apple ID will be one of the options.  You will then need to agree to the iTunes terms and conditions.  It will then request that you fill out your basic information and answer some security questions – then you can hit continue at the bottom.  The page will ask for billing information (which you can leave as none), your address, and a phone number. Please don’t forget to fill out the Mr. or Mrs. line or it will error out. Then hit create Apple ID.  You will then get sent a link to your e-mail to verify your account.  Unlike creating an ID from a computer, you may need to leave the App Store to check your e-mail to verify your account.  Log into your e-mail and verify the e-mail address at this point.  Now your Apple ID is fully operational.

**Most importantly, record and remember your password so that you don’t forget it in the future.**

From iTunes through your computer:

 Before starting this process you will want to make sure there is no Apple ID currently signed in under the  Depending on which version of iTunes you are on, the “account” box may be in a different location each time. In iTunes 12 and higher it will be on the main menu bar. In iTunes 11 and earlier it will be under the iTunes store area. You want to make sure this box says “sign in” or “sign up”. If it doesn’t, click it, and click sign out  Then you will want to search for an application in the App store to download that is free. The “iTunes Remote” app is recommended as it should usually be free and be the first thing that comes up when you search for “remote”  Click on the “get” or “free” and it will ask how you want to get the App  A box will pop up that offers to create a free Apple ID  You will then need to agree to the iTunes terms and conditions  It will then request that you fill out your basic information and answer some security questions – then you can hit continue at the bottom  The next page will ask for billing information (which you can leave as none), your address, and a phone number. Please don’t forget to fill out the Mr. or Mrs. line or it will error out. Then hit create Apple ID  You will then get sent a link to your e-mail to verify your account  You will need to log into your e-mail and verify the e-mail address at this point.  Now your Apple ID is fully operational.
