There’s more to the conversation. Loading page content. Page content loaded. In simple words: you cannot create a bootable USB drive with the OS X Mavericks installer for Late 2013 MacBook Pro and Mac Pro. Those Macs come with a special OS X Mavericks build which is different than the OS X Mavericks build available in the Mac App Store, so you cannot download OS X Mavericks from the Mac App Store and you cannot create a bootable USB drive with the installer until your Mac uses the same version as all other Macs. What you can do instead is to make a clone of your hard drive in the USB drive or install OS X in the USB drive, but nothing else. You can reinstall OS X through OS X Recovery, by holding down Command and R keys while your computer is starting. Jan 2, 2014 9:31 AM. There are two ways to download Mavericks on pre-installed systems. 1. Restart using Command+R to boot into the Recovery HD. From the OS X Utilities Menu, select Reinstall OS X. 2. Restart using Command+Option+R to boot into Internet Recovery which boots into Apple's servers and their Recovery HD. From the OS X Utilities Menu, select Reinstall OS X. The above 2 methods will download AND install Mavericks to the target drive. What you might try is the following to extract the necessary file(s) to create a USB thumb drive installer: Plug in a formated USB external drive (not a USB thumb drive unless its 32GB) and point to that drive to install to. You will have to watch the download and when your Mac restarts after the download and at the black screen, unplug your external drive. You should boot to your normal Desktop. Plug your USB external drive back in and look for an InstallESD.dmg file. It might be in a folder named something like "OS X Install Files". Copy it some where like your. /Downloads folder or your. I don't know if the above steps will work as I don't have a Mac with Mavericks pre-installed. But I got that last step from the DiskMaker X FAQ under the question of " I got my version of OS X pre-installed with my Mac. How can I get the OS X installer ?" Question: Q: Mavericks Download Without AppStore. I've got a bad problem. Some time ago I've installed Yosemite Beta on an Mobile Hard Disk for Testing and deleting my HDD with Mavericks. So I deleted my Mac HD and got only the Yosemite Beta. And then I rebooted - But Yosemite didn't load. So I installed my Product CD with Snow Leopard on my Mac HD for that I've got something. - My Laptop with Windows 7. - My iMac with Snow Leopard (10.5) My Question now is: How can I reinstall Mavericks without the Mac App Store? On Leopard isn't any. Seen logic it isn't illegal that someone would give me the InstallESD.dmg of Mavericks, when I buyed at it some time inside of App Store, I think - But real I don't know. So it would be really nice if somebody would upload the InstallESD.dmg at some FileSharing-Host and give me the link here - Or has anybody another idea? PS: I'm very sorry for my bad Englisch - I'm from Germany. Posted on Sep 30, 2014 7:06 AM. All replies. Loading page content. Page content loaded. No body can legitimately upload a copy of Mavericks for you. Doing so violates the license terms of Apple. To reinstall Mavericks, you will have to erase your hard drive using Disk Utility from the Snow Leopard install disk, install Snow Leopard, then go to the Mac App store and download Mavericks again. Sep 30, 2014 7:12 AM. at first I'd like to say thanks for that fast answer. I didn't knew that that was a break to the license agreement - Sorry. But I haven't got a Snow Lion Version. Any other person who can help? Or have you an idea how I can fix my problem otherwise? Sep 30, 2014 8:13 AM. Previous Mac OS installs get hidden in the Mac App store. You need to unhide your purchases then you ca nredownlaod Mavericks. That's not how to do beta software. Create a new partiton/use another drive and install beta and boot from that. Do NOT delete your current OS. Sep 30, 2014 8:18 AM. Now I've got: - My Laptop with Windows 7 - My iMac with Snow Leopard (10.5) 10.5 isn't Snow Leopard, it's just Leopard. 10.6.x is Snow Leopard. Yes, the cat names can be confusing. If you don't own a copy of Snow Leopard, you'll first have to purchase a DVD from Apple. Once you have the disk, install Snow Leopard (which will be 10.6.3 on the disk), then download and install the 10.6.8 Combo updater. That will get the App Store on the drive. From there, you can login to your App Store account, download and install Mavericks. Sep 30, 2014 8:20 AM. i purchased the dvd by apple at the online store. now i got it but it cant be installed. when i put the dvd into the mac, he wants to read it but it gets out after a minute. what can i do now? my version is 10.5.8. the dvd is total new. i did all updates i can. at 10.5.3 i could install the i life suite. can i get back to 10.5.3 anyway? please help. Nov 5, 2014 4:41 AM. Let's step back a minute for some clarification: - Exactly what iMac do you have, what year and what Mac OS X came installed on it? - Are you sure you purchased Mac OS X DVD for 10.5 at the Apple on-line store? They do not have 10.5 any longer and only sell 10.6 on a DVD. - If your iMac is a 2010 model then it will not be able to install the on-line Apple store 10.6 DVD. That DVD is for Mac OS X 10.6.3, the Macs built in 2010 came with 10.6.6 preinstalled. - If your iMac is a 2010 model you will have to call Apple support, 1-800-MY-APPLE, and give them the serial number of the iMac and order a replacement DVD for that machine - that will be a DVD with 10.6.6 specific to your iMac.

The Office of Technology Services (OTS) provides limited support for these devices including hardware consultation and purchasing. The actual management and deploymnet of the devices is the responsibility of the college or department staff. Once stakeholders are identified, schedule a planning meeting for all stakeholders to voice their needs and concerns will determine whether or not you want to proceed with the project.
