Ipad General Information iPad General Information Hardware Use and Care Guidelines Case — The iPad should remain in the case at all times. You may choose to purchase your own case, but it must provide as much, or more, protection as the AMHS provided case. Charging — The iPad should be plugged in every night so that it starts the day with 100% battery life. Cleaning — The screen should only be cleaned with a soft cloth. Do not use any liquid on the iPad. iOS Updates — Students must always update the iPad to the most current iPadOS version. Unless otherwise instructed by IT, the updates must be run when prompted on their device, usually within a week of release. Acceptable Use Policy — A few important highlights: (1) Do not remove the management system, or “jailbreak” the device; only the apps provided by AMHS through Self Service are allowed, (2) Never leave the iPad unattended or in an unlocked locker, (3) You may store personal music, photos, or videos, but keep at least 2GB of space available at all times. Repairs — All iPad repairs must be performed by AMHS in the IT Office. Do not take the iPad to the Apple Store Genius Bar or another repair facility as that may make the iPad unusable at AMHS. See below for repair coverage details. AMHS iPad AppleCare Program — Archbishop Mitty High School is pleased to provide coverage for stolen or accidentally damaged iPads with an annual $40 fee (already included in tuition payment). This coverage includes a single repair for accidental damage at no additional cost. Subsequent repairs for accidental damage are subject to a $50 service fee. Stolen iPads are subject to a $100 deductible and require the successful filing of a police report. Lost iPads will be billed a $300 replacement fee. To best protect the iPad and minimize the chance of damage, proper use of the AMHS supplied iPad case is required. Apps Required course specific apps will be automatically installed and cannot be removed from the iPad. The Self Service app can be used to install optional apps as well as reinstall or manually update other required apps. Updated app releases will be automatically installed on the iPad each night. Once installed, apps cannot be deleted from the iPad. In case an app needs to be deleted for troubleshooting, a request will need to be made with the IT Help Desk. The App Store is intentionally disabled and unavailable for use. Requests for new or alternative apps can be submitted to a teacher or counselor. Textbooks All textbooks (digital and paper) associated with your courses are available for purchase and/or download from the Parent and Student Portal at portal.mitty.com. Digital textbooks come from the Apple iBookstore, Amazon Kindle store, or a direct download from a major publisher. We recommend removing credit card information from the associated Apple ID and Amazon account used to purchase the textbooks so that additional purchases can not be made should the account information be obtained. Sharing previous digital purchases is available for both Apple and Amazon textbooks. For more information about these services, visit the links below. Apple Family Sharing (apple.com/icloud/family-sharing) Amazon Family Library (amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/? nodeId=201620400) Paper textbooks can be purchased through the AMHS online book retailer, MBS. Digital Storage Google Drive provides unlimited storage and is a great tool for backups of notes and photos as well as collaborative documents. iCloud storage is limited to 5GB for free. iCloud provides seamless daily backups of the iPad and instant cloud-synced storage of documents and photos. Many students require more iCloud storage to backup their devices (including personal iPhones) and photo libraries. More storage may be purchased directly on the iPad or any Apple device starting at $.99/month. Creating additional Apple IDs to avoid storage limitations is highly discouraged and should not be performed. For ease of use, reduced complexity, as well as the benefits of auto-backup and syncing, a single Apple ID should be used per person for all Apple devices and services. The AMHS assigned iPad has 64GB of internal storage. This is sufficient storage for all class materials and course apps. Care should be taken with personal resources such as music, movies, and photos to leave at least 2GB of free space on the iPad to ensure continued successful use at AMHS. Accessories Many students benefit from using a stylus with their iPad. For comprehensive reviews of highly recommended styluses visit: (http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-ipad-stylus/). Please note, this 10.5-inch iPad Air (3rd generation) will work with the Apple Pencil (1st Generation). A bluetooth keyboard may be purchased and paired to this iPad. Other optional accessories may also be purchased and used with the iPad. .

  • Sgaring Apple Ios Devices
Sharing iPad & iPod Touch Devices Apple is in the midst of migrating to new Apple Configurator 2 software. This document will be revised after more is known about the new software. Apple iPad and iPod Touch (iOS) devices are personal devices, designed for a single person to use. If the devices will be shared and used in a classroom or group setting (iOS Learning Lab) it is crucial that a management plan be developed to assure a successful implementation of the technology. The guidelines below can assist with planning. Initial Planning Before purchasing devices, colleges and departments first need to identify the stakeholders involved including: faculty, staff, and students who will be using and managing the devices. Adapting Apple iPad or iPod Touch devises for classrooms or groups requires a significant time investment to manage the devices. The Office of Technology Services (OTS) provides limited support for these devices including hardware consultation and purchasing. The actual management and deploymnet of the devices is the responsibility of the college or department staff. Once stakeholders are identified, schedule a planning meeting for all stakeholders to voice their needs and concerns will determine whether or not you want to proceed with the project. Below are items to consider and resources to help you plan a Towson iOS deployment. Towson University iOS Deployments Below are some questions to answer that will help with planning.
