With the Release of the Ipad 8Th Generation and the Ipad Air 4Th Generation, Apple Has Made Available Ipads That Support the Apple Pencil and Are Reasonably Priced With the release of the iPad 8th Generation and the iPad Air 4th Generation, Apple has made available iPads that support the Apple Pencil AND are reasonably priced. We continue to believe the combination of an iPad and an Apple Pencil provides a very powerful learning tool. ● For this reason, the School is requiring each student in Middle School to use an iPad which is compatible with the Apple Pencil. ● Students are not required to own an Apple Pencil as the School will make class sets of Pencils available for teachers to check out for specific classroom activities. If you are contemplating the purchase of a new iPad for your student, The Technology Team offers the following general minimum recommendations in order of our suggested preference: 1. iPad Pro 11” (2nd Generation) with 256GB of iPad storage and the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) ● The iPad Pro 11” and the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) are amazing tools for the classroom. ● The 256GB of storage is sufficient for school data (apps, videos, and projects) as well as personal data. ● The iPad Pro 11” has superior display qualities and a faster processor. ● The iPad Pro 11” is compatible with the Magic Keyboard and the Smart Keyboard Folio. ● The iPad Pro 11” supports Face ID. 2. iPad Air (4th generation) and the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) ● The iPad Air is a mid-range-priced iPad. ● The iPad Air supports the Apple Pencil (2nd generation). ● The 64GB of storage should be sufficient for school data (apps, videos, and projects). If you anticipate a lot of personal data, you may want to upgrade the storage to 256GB. ● The iPad Air is compatible with the Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard Folio. ● The 10.9” liquid retina display quality and processor are better than the iPad 8th generation but not as good as a Pro. ● The iPad Air supports Touch ID. 3. iPad 8th Generation with 128GB of iPad storage and the Apple Pencil (1st generation) ● The 8th Generation iPad costs significantly less than an iPad Pro. ● The 8th Generation iPad supports the Apple Pencil (1st generation). ● In order to have sufficient storage for school and personal data, we recommend upgrading the storage to 128GB. ● The 8th Generation iPad is compatible with a Smart Keyboard. ● The 8th Generation iPad has a 10.2” retina display. ● The 8th Generation iPad supports Touch ID. 4. Any iPad that will install the latest version of iPadOS, has at least 64GB of storage, and is compatible with either version of the Apple Pencil.
