Arrival and departure By public transport By train All trains stop directly below Terminal 1 on Level U2. The Airport Express travels to Berlin Central Station (Haupt bahn- hof) two times every hour from there. The journey takes 30 minutes. There are direct train connections every hour to Königs Wusterhausen (16 minutes), Wünsdorf-Waldstadt (30 minutes) and Potsdam (56 minutes). By suburban railway and bus Suburban trains (S-Bahn) also stop at Terminal 1 on Level U2. Six suburban trains per hour connect BER with the capital’s local transport network. The journey to Alexanderplatz takes 44 minutes. The closely timed express buses X7 and X71 also take you to Berlin’s Rudow underground station (U7) in a journey time of 18 minutes. Fahrgäste sollten diesen Bereich mit U6, U8 und S-Bahn wenn mög- lich weiträumig umfahren. Bereits letztes Jahr wurde in diesem Bereich an den Gleisen und Brücken der Hochbahn gebaut. Auch im zweiten Halbjahr 2018 sowie 2019 werden weitere Bauabschnitte folgen. Die Alternative wäre gewesen, den Streckenabschnitt für circa drei Jahre am Stück komplett zu sperren, dies konnte durch die Stü- ckelung der Bauarbeiten verhindert werden. Die gesamte Sanierung des Hochbahnabschnitts hat ein Investitionsvolumen von rund 190 Mio. Euro und wird durch den Senat von Berlin finanziert. U1 und U3 binden sich langfristig Für die U-Bahn-Fahrgäste in Kreuzberg und Friedrichshain gibt es aber auch gute Neuigkeiten.
