FIVE pupils from Helsby High School took part in an Charlotte Orienteering Challenge King. with the Cheshire and Merseyside Schools' League. The youngsters completed six races throughout the winter months including an urban race at Reasheath College and another around the top of Hope Mountain, in North Wales, in sub-zero conditions. Experienced orienteers Evelyn Elmes and Dan Weaver did not disappoint. Relative novices Charlotte King and Ben Jones did brilliantly to claim both Year 7 silvers. Edward Webber was also in contention for a Year 7 medal right up until the last race. In the team competition (best six count) Helsby Rnished 7th out of 23. An impressive result for a team made up mostly of Year 7s with only Rve in the team. Helen Elmes also achieved success. She made her debut in the last event and claimed gold.
