After breakfast proceed to DAMBULLA (a drive of 3 hrs 30 mnts) in the heart of our island's famed cultural ar En-route visit PINNAWELLA ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE and witness baby jumbos wondering around their foster home or bottle fed and bathed by their human foster fathers. It is the home to some 80 or more elephant orphans. A place you will really enjoy and never forget. Most orphans are accustomed to their curious human visitors and are harmless. Started in 1972 the Elephant Orphanage was relocated to at the present site in 1975. Bathing time at Ma Oya River is sharp at 10.00am and 2.00pm. Feeding time is about hour earlier. After breakfast visit POLLONNARUWA the ancient sacred city of Polonnaruwa was the capital of Sri Lanka in the 11th and 12th centuries and has been declared a World Heritage Site. During your visit to the Ruined City, you will be able to see famous archaeological sites such as Gal Vihara, the Polonnaruwa Vatadage, Sathmahal Prasada, Medirigiriya Vatadage, Lankathilaka Image House, the Shiva Temple, Rankoth Vehera, Nissankalatha Mandapaya etc. After breakfast visit SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS the gigantic column of rock, rising up 200 meters (660ft) into the heavens was once a royal palace and is today acclaimed a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. The spectacular Sigiriya (Lion Rock) rock fortress was built in the 5th century AD, by King Kashyapa. It is a wonder of ancient engineering, art and culture. Walk around the landscaped pleasure gardens with its moats, man-made ponds and fountains, considered a hydraulic marvel of the past. Make a grand entrance through the massive lion's paws carved out of stone and climb up 1200 steps all the way to the top where a panoramic view of the surrounding.
