Please clear immigration & visa formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel if you do not have goods to be declared to customs. The Green Holiday Centre Representative will page you by your name. Thereafter you will be assisted to the Car park / Coach Park to begin you journey as per the booked itinerary. Transferred to the Hotel in Colombo Overnight Stay at the Hotel. Day 02 City tour in Colombo Colombo – a drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street – the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings, and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and Independence Square. Overnight stay at the hotel. Day 03 Colombo / Yala After Breakfast leave for Yala Visit Yala national park YALA (RUHUNA) NATIONAL PARK- the Ruhunu National Park covers 126,786 hectares including the Strict Natural Reserve (Block II). The most familiar is Block I (14,101 hectares) and this were established in 1938. Yala is famous for its big herds and large number of Elephants, Leopards, Spotted Deer, Sambhur, Crocodiles, Mongoose, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, and many other animals. More than 130 bird species are recorded which includes the resident and winter visitors. There are 7 Bungalows inside the Park with few Camp Sites. Overnight stay at the hotel. Day 04 Yala / Nuwara Eliya After breakfast proceed to Nuwara Eliya Stop in Ella for enjoy the spectacular views of eastern plains and visit the Haggala Botanical Gardens. Stop at a tea plantation and a factoryto see the processing of fresh tea. Nuwara Eliya – The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coldest 2 Small Miracle of Asia places on the island, but is really just like an England spring day although the temperature does drop at night. All around Nuwara Eliya you will see evidence of the British influence. Houses are like country cottages or Queen Ann style mansions. Evening commence city tour in Nuwara Eliya. Day 05 Nuwara Eliya/ Horton Planis / Nuwara Eliya Horton Plains National Park is a protected area in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and is covered by montane grassland and cloud forest. This plateau at an altitude of 2,100–2,300 metres (6,900–7,500 ft) is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region. This region was designated a national park in 1988. It is also a popular tourist destination and is situated 32 kilometres (20 mi) from Nuwara Eliya and 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Ohiya. Overnight stay at the hotel. Day 06 Nuwara Eliya / Peradeniya / Kandy After breakfast visit Peradeniya botanical gardens Royal Botanical Gardens – 147 acres in extent: started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the King’s of Kandy. There are more than 5000 species of tree and plants. Some and endemic as well as flora from the tropical world. Spice garden and Orchid House are popular with Tourists. Afterwards proceed to Kandy. Afternoon city tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, Arts & Crafts Centre, Gem Museum and Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Kandy - the hill capital, venue of the annual Perahera. The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere. Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic – ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess’ hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka’s most prized possession. Overnight stay at the hotel. Day 07 Kandy / Dambulla / Sigiriya After Breakfast proceed to Dambulla. En-route visit a Spice Garden at Matale and see the luscious Cinnamons, Cardamons, Pepper plants etc. You can also purchase your requirements of spices. Visit cave temple 3 Small Miracle of Asia Dambulla – Dambulla is famous for the five cave Temples on a rock. The first 03 caves are better, older and larger than the other two. Some caves dates to 1st C.B.C. All the 5 cave walls and ceilings are covered with Buddhist murals and there are more than 130 Buddha statues, statues of Gods and Kings are also found here. Afterwards leave Sigiriya Climb the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Sigiriya – is home to the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky” which is perhaps the most fantastic single wonder of the Island. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the fortress. Within its triple-moated defence the huge rock rises almost to a sheer height of 500ft. On its summit are the foundations of what was once a great and sumptuous palace and gardens complete with swimming pool. On one of the stairways the only known ancient work of Sinhala secular painting survived in the form of Frescoes of life sized damsels in all the freshness and delicacy of their original colour. Day 08 Sigiriya / Habarana / Polonnaruwa / Trincomalee Elephant Safari at Habarana Proceed to Polonnaruwa POLONNARUWA– is another “World Heritage Site” was the Capital of Sri Lanka from 11th – 13th Centuries, contains some splendid and spectacular statues. Lankatilake, Tivanka and Thuparama are the most beautiful and largest Image Houses and Tivanka has the best examples of frescoes of the Polonnaruwa period. Rankoth Vehera and Kirivehera are well preserved large stupas, and Gal Vihare – a rock shrine, has four Buddha statues, two seated, one standing and one reclining and Parakrama Bahu statue are examples of Sinhalese stone carver. The Vata-da-ge is a unique creation of the Sri Lankan artists. The medieval capital, Polonnaruwa was fortified with inner & outer moats and inner & outer walls. The Parakrama Samudra is on the western side of the city. The Royal Palace, Audience Hall and other buildings in the inner city were enclosed by another tall wall. Proceed to Trincomalee Overnight stay at the hotel. Day 09 Trincomalee Trincomalee is a port city on the east coast of Sri Lanka. The city is located on a peninsula, which divides the inner and outer harbours.Trincomalee is an anglicized version of the Tamil word Tirukonamalai (which means "lord of the sacred hill"); it is a hill situated in the end of a natural land formation that resembles an arc. It is one of the main where Tamil is spoken at large scale. Historically referred to as Gokanna or Gokarna it has been a sea port that has played a major role in maritime and international trading history of Sri Lanka. 4 Small Miracle of Asia The Bay of Trincomalee provides security and is openly accessible to all types of sea crafts in all weathers. The beaches are used for recreational purposes such as surfing, scuba diving, fishing and whale watching. The city is renowned for housing the largest Dutch fort in Sri Lanka. It is home to major Sri Lankan naval bases and a Sri Lankan Air Force base. Day 10 Trincomalee / Anuradhapura After breakfast leave for Anuradhapura Start sightseeing tour ANURADHAPURA – the capital of Sri Lanka from the 05th Century B.C. to the end of the 10th Century A.D. was the most celebrated of Sri Lanka’s ancient ruined cities. The city’s greatest treasures are its dagobas constructed of bricks and are hemispherical in shape. The most notable of these dagobas are the Ruvanveliseya dating back to the 2nd Century B.C. and is 300 feet in diameter, the Jetawanarama is 370 feet and the Thuparama Dagoba is enshrined with the collarbone of the Buddha. The city’s most renowned relic is the sacred Bo Tree, which is said to have grown from a branch of the tree under which the Buddha gained Enlightenment. It was planted 2250 years ago and is the oldest historically authenticated tree in the world. Anuradhapura is a “World Heritage Site”. Overnight stay at the hotel. Day 11 Anuradhapura / Negombo Negombo is mostly known for its beautiful beach resorts located on the western coast of Sri Lanka and is a large fishing town. Negombo is located on the shores of a lagoon and was a major trading port for the Portuguese and the Dutch. This City is known world wide for its sea food. Negombo is known for its solitary calm beaches with lip smacking delicious seafood. The sunsets of Negombo beaches attracts tourists from far and wide. Day 12 Negombo / Ariport After breakfast we will pick you from the hotel and transfer to the Airport. The terms patimaghara, prethimagruha, Denoting image house and Prethimagruha has been formed by combining words prethima and gruha meaning image and its abode respectively. The other term bimbalaya has mentioned in the Silpa text called Manjusri vastuvidya shastraya (Jayasuriya, H.F: Silva, R; Prematileke.P.L; 1995. ) denoting image house also has been formed by combining the words bimbe or image and Alaya or abode (house). The other Sinhalese terms pilimage, buduge, viharage are formed by using the meanings of utility of the building and its spatial organization and while the terms buduge and viharage specially reflected the meaning of the sitting, standing and reclining (viharathi) abode of the master. Image house or Pilimage was the most an unambiguous and well dependable functional design was practiced within the Environment of organic Buddhist monasteries in ancient Sri Lanka. An image house presents a multitude of design forms in the course of its historical development.
