An era of maternity-coded films emerged, specifically with the debut of Psycho (1960), progressing to where Hollywood horror cinema stands now: a conglomeration of remakes, reinventions, and revisitations to recognizable themes entrenched in white (and often female) victimhood, paranormal visits, inexplicably violent strangers, and disease.

Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} Friday the 13th Part II by Simon Hawke Friday the 13th part 2 review. Vickie didnt want to disturb Jeff and Sandra. She had heard the vigorous sounds coming from their bedroom, and knew they must be lying exhausted in each others arms by now. But she had to see them. She had to warn them what was happening here at Crystal Lake, as thunder crashed and lightning flashed. Timidly she opened the bedroom door and looked inside. The sheets were pulled over two figures lying on the bed. Sandra, Vickie whispered. Then the sheet was thrown back, and a hooded figure sat up. and Vickie screamed and screamed and screamed. Dr. Wolfula- "Friday the 13th Part 2" Review. User Reviews. Check out what Sophie had to say about the corresponding Freddy pic here! With Mrs. Voorhees with no head and a cliffhanger of an ending, writer Ron Kurz and director Steve Miner had a few roads to travel in unraveling more of the slasher franchise. The camp slasher foundation continues its build, but the introduction of a soon to be iconic killer makes the film feel fresh and exciting with a surprising attention to detail. Alice Hardy has survived the attacks of crazy Mrs. Voorhees and decides to gain back her normalcy in a summer vacation home. The dream of a decomposed young Jason still haunt her, as does the head of Pamela flying from her neck. Forgot your password? Don't have an account? Sign up here. From helping with making informed decisions about a new movie script with respect to aspects such as its origi- nality, similarity to other movies, or even commercial viability, all the way to offering consumers new and interesting ways of viewing the final movie, many stages in the life-cycle of a movie stand to benefit from Machine Learning techniques that promise to reduce human effort, time, or both.

What Does it Mean to be a Woman in Horror? Presentation by Maya Hendl CONTENT WARNING This presentation contains descriptions of violence, torture, kidnapping, and murder. Table of Contents 1 2 Final Girls Female Antagonists Exploring examples of female villains, why they are Exploring what they & so scary, and their ability to are, why they exist, justify their motivations in and the contexts in comparison to male which they exist antagonists 1 Final Girls Exploring what they are, why they exist, and the contexts in which they exist What Does it Mean to be a “Final Girl”? The term “final girl” was coined by Carol J. Clover in her 1993 book Men, Women and Chain Saws: Gender in the Modern Horror Film. The “final girl” is the last woman or girl left alive in a horror movie, most often within the slasher genre, that must confront the killer. Clover describes final girls as typically being sexually unavailable at the start of the film, as having sex in a horror movie is a common trope that will most likely get you killed (Alternative Press Magazine). Clover goes on to describe how, once the final girl survives, she “is ‘purged’...of undesirable characteristics, such as pursuit of pleasure in her own right. An interesting feature of the genre is the ‘punishment’ of beauty and sexual availability” (Horror Fandom Wiki). Why Do Final Girls Exist? In horror films, women are more often than not left to fight the big bad all on their own.

  • Peering Through the Trees, Or, Everything I've Ever
PEERING THROUGH THE TREES, OR, EVERYTHING I’VE EVER LEARNED ABOUT AMERICAN SUMMER CAMP CAME FROM FRIDAY THE 13TH PARTS 1-4 AND THE BABY-SITTERS CLUB SUPER SPECIAL #2 Erin Harrington In the early 1980s, first Mrs. Voorhees and then her damaged, homicidal son hacked and slashed their way along the shores of Crystal Lake. Fifteen years later, in New Zealand, my friends and I – all members of the VHS generation and beneficiaries of the Scholastic book club – spent our fifth form science periods at our private, all girls’ high school planning how to make our own half-baked slasher film. It was the sort of scheme that’s enormously fun to concoct and unlikely to be enacted, traced out in biro on brown chemistry benches. There was a wooded scout camp on the semi-rural outskirts of the city, spitting distance from one friend’s house, which was begging to be terrorised by a sexually ambivalent masked killer. (It was also conveniently close to Christchurch Men’s Prison, which could perhaps provide justification for a homicidal escapee.) If that didn’t work, another friend’s family had a holiday home, a chalet-style log house set amongst native forest, in an alpine village a 90-minute drive away. There were loads of places to get lost or grievously injure oneself while fleeing, plus all the comforts you could ask for in the mid-late 90s (hot water, DVD, PlayStation). Her parents also had a clunky, outsized handicam. A perfect plan. I don’t think we got much further than a list of teen archetypes (the jock, the virgin, the slut, the nerd), some detailed death scenes, and a theme song whose plinky-plonky banjo evoked a certain sense of faux-American backwoods horror.

  • Despite Glitches, Friday 13Th Game Slays May 31, 2017 by John Powell - G4 Canada
Home Watch Video Shows Schedule Interact About G4 Tech News Tech News on G4 Despite glitches, Friday 13th game slays May 31, 2017 By John Powell - G4 Canada back to -|- Tech News index -|- John Powell column archive As most gamers are aware, the launch of Friday the 13th: The Game has been as ugly as one of the 173 corpses Jason Voorhees has left behind. Since last Friday, massive server issues have made public sessions unplayable forcing gamers to host private matches just so they can play the game otherwise they are just staring at a very expensive screensaver for the time being. This is why I cannot recommend purchasing the game at present nor can I give it a complete score, review as this critical issue and others have yet to be resolved. Using private sessions on Xbox Live, I was able to play quite a few rounds of the game and these are my impressions thus far. Although the title still has some gameplay bugs that need to be ironed out here and there, Friday the 13th: The Game is this life-long horror fan’s dream. Each timed session begins with one player taking on the murderous role of Jason while the others are camp counsellors with various abilities and traits. Jason’s mission is simple: hunt down and kill everyone. To do so, Jason has some powers which are supposed to mimic his ability to blindside his victims in the movies. Jason can, to some extent, teleport around the map and he also has special sense which allows him to track the counsellors.

JASON PDF, EPUB, EBOOK Laurell K. Hamilton | 304 pages | 06 Feb 2015 | Headline Publishing Group | 9781472226983 | English | London, United Kingdom Jason Voorhees | Friday the 13th Wiki | Fandom Jason fathered twins with the queen. Heracles pressured them to leave as he was disgusted by the antics of the Argonauts. He had not taken part, which is truly unusual considering the numerous affairs he had with other women. After Lemnos the Argonauts landed among the Doliones , whose king Cyzicus treated them graciously. He told them about the land beyond Bear Mountain, but forgot to mention what lived there. What lived in the land beyond Bear Mountain were the Gegeines , which are a tribe of Earthborn giants with six arms and wore leather loincloths. While most of the crew went into the forest to search for supplies, the Gegeines saw that few Argonauts were guarding the ship and raided it. Heracles was among those guarding the ship at the time and managed to kill most of them before Jason and the others returned. Once some of the other Gegeines were killed, Jason and the Argonauts set sail. The Argonauts departed, losing their bearings and landing again at the same spot that night. In the darkness, the Doliones took them for enemies and they started fighting each other. The Argonauts killed many of the Doliones, among them the king Cyzicus. Cyzicus' wife killed herself. The Argonauts realized their horrible mistake when dawn came and held a funeral for him. Soon Jason reached the court of Phineus of Salmydessus in Thrace. Zeus had sent the harpies to steal the food put out for Phineas each day.

  • Jeff Kirkendall's Thoughts for the Month Column Thoughts
Jeff Kirkendall’s Thoughts For The Month Column Thoughts, Opinions, Reviews, Commentary & More! Hello and Welcome! My name is Jeff Kirkendall and I'm an independent filmmaker and actor from the Upstate New York area. This is the section of the Very Scary Productions website where I write about topics related to independent filmmaking, digital video production, acting, movies in general, horror movies in particular, my own indie movies, as well as anything and everything related or in between. I decided to create this commentary page because I find that I often come across things that either interest me, excite me, intrigue me, or maybe just bug me. Any topic related to movies and cinema is fair game, from the most mainstream to the most controversial. For example I'll often read about movie projects that I have a strong interest in or opinion on, for one reason or another. This page gives me a forum to discuss these things. It's all about discussion and furthering understanding of our pop culture. Anyone who has feedback concerning what I have to say here, feel free to contact me (see the contact link at http://www.veryscaryproductions.com/). I'd also like to point out that the following is just my opinion, and everyone is free to agree or disagree with what I have to say. Enjoy, and to all the Indies out there: Keep on Filming! SUBJECT: Freddy vs. Jason – Will it work? - December 2002 As of this writing, the long talked-about clash of the horror titans Freddy vs.

  • FREDDY Vs. JASON Vs. ASH #1 COMMENTARY
FREDDY vs. JASON vs. ASH #1 COMMENTARY Participants: Jason Craig (JC) Jeff Katz (JK) James Kuhoric (JAK) Thomas Mason (TM) Scott Peterson (SP) Joe Rybandt (JPR) Prepared by James Kuhoric Welcome to the Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash “directors’ commentary.” One of the best features on most new DVD releases is the directors’ commentary, where actors, producers, and directors can reflect on the film and add their own personal insight to the movie you are watching. There is no better way to really get the whole story of a movie than by hearing what the integral contributors to its creation have to say about the events and final takes that made it into the film. Some of the behind the scenes information is hilarious and some is tragic, but all of it is interesting. I remember listening to the Freddy vs. Jason commentary and hearing in Robert (Freddy Krueger) Englund’s own words what scenes he felt were the best and where they had to make changes to the production to accomplish certain shots. It was fascinating and really added to the overall movie experience. After viewing it, I felt closer to the movie than before…dare I say, like an insider. It was this very feeling that led us to add a number of “extra features” to the Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash comic book experience. All of us involved with FvJvA are total horror film nuts, and the idea of creating a commentary that combined our thoughts on the story and production seemed like something fans could really enjoy.

FREDDY vs. JASON vs. ASH #5 COMMENTARY Participants: Jason Craig (JC) Jeff Katz (JK) James Kuhoric (JAK) Thomas Mason (TM) Scott Peterson (SP) Joe Rybandt (JPR) Prepared by James Kuhoric Welcome to our frightful fifth installment of the Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash “Directors’ Commentary.” When last we met, Ash was “hanging around” courtesy of Freddy’s little severed claw helpers and Jason was getting re-acquainted with some of his more memorable Crystal Lake kills. As it turns out, Freddy read the Necronomicon and was not only made flesh once again in the real world, but was also given the god-like power to change the world around him in a living nightmare motif. Now he’s doling out his anger on the two things that have frustrated him for the past four issues – Jason and Ash. Our cast of contributors has returned once again to give you even more behind the scenes insight into the Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash original movie pitch, the comic book, and the upcoming trade paperback collection. Join Jason Craig (artist), Thomas Mason (colorist), James Kuhoric (writer), Scott Peterson (executive editor / Wildstorm), Joe Rybandt (executive editor / Dynamite Ent), and Jeff Katz (Original FvJvA writer and Fox VP) as they share their personal thoughts about every aspect of the comic book and how it would have translated into movie format. This “directors’ commentary” is a way for all the creators involved with the collaboration to talk directly with the readers about our opinions of the story and what led us to this point.
