Vickie didnt want to disturb Jeff and Sandra. She had heard the vigorous sounds coming from their bedroom, and knew they must be lying exhausted in each others arms by now. But she had to see them. She had to warn them what was happening here at Crystal Lake, as thunder crashed and lightning flashed. Timidly she opened the bedroom door and looked inside. The sheets were pulled over two figures lying on the bed. Sandra, Vickie whispered. Then the sheet was thrown back, and a hooded figure sat up. and Vickie screamed and screamed and screamed. With Mrs. Voorhees with no head and a cliffhanger of an ending, writer Ron Kurz and director Steve Miner had a few roads to travel in unraveling more of the slasher franchise. The camp slasher foundation continues its build, but the introduction of a soon to be iconic killer makes the film feel fresh and exciting with a surprising attention to detail. Alice Hardy has survived the attacks of crazy Mrs. Voorhees and decides to gain back her normalcy in a summer vacation home. The dream of a decomposed young Jason still haunt her, as does the head of Pamela flying from her neck. Forgot your password? Don't have an account? Sign up here. I am a big fan of the actress and I love her to death in Friday the 13th Part 2. The late show was half-filled with high school and college students, and as the lights went down I experienced a brief wave of nostalgia. In this very theater, on countless Friday nights, I'd gone with a date to the movies. My nostalgia lasted for the first two minutes of the movie. Friday the 13th Part III (Simon Hawke novel) Official Summary [ edit | edit source ] Beautiful, auburn-haired, 19-year-old Chris was going back. Back to the place where the others had been hideously butchered. Back to where she had been found near-mad with terror. Back to prove to herself that the horror was over and she could live and love again. This time she brought her friends. They all thought the weekend would be a kick. All they had in mind was goofing off and getting off on fun and games. It was party time – until an uninvited guest showed up. His name was Jason. and he was out to have a bloody ball of his own. Friday The 13th Part 3 by Simon Hawke. He saw them through the window of the barn, the girl dressed in a scanty blue bikini and wrapped in a towel, the boy in shorts, sneakers, and a T- shirt. Their wet hair was plastered down and they walked close to one another, hand in hand. They were coming up from the boat dock by the lake, heading directly toward the barn. Their voices floated up to him. âWhatâre you doing?â Debbie said as Andy started to pull her toward the barn. âWe havenât been in the barn yet,â Andy said, with a sly grin. âLetâs take a look.â âNot now,â said Debbie, pulling away from him and walking back toward the house. âIâm cold.â The water in the lake was freezing and it had brought on a sudden attack of cramps and mild nausea. âHow about it, Debbie?â Andy said, wiggling his eyebrows and leering. âA little roll in the hay?â âGo play with yourself,â she said, grinning at him. âIâm going in the house.â âHey, wait up!â he yelled, laughing and running after her. Jason Vorhees slowly unclenched his fists as the couple headed back up toward the house. The bloodstained plumberâs wrench dropped from his hand and fell onto the floor of the barn, next to the prostrate form of Ali. He looked down at the bikerâs blood-spattered body and, for a moment, the raging fever within him ebbed. His breathing slowed and became more regular. A curious sort of calm came over him, as it always did after a kill. But it only lasted for a little while, and each time the period of calm was briefer than the last. He had fled from the deserted Camp Crystal Lake known to the locals as âCamp Bloodâ after the sheriff, with assistance from local hunters and the state police, had organized a search for him. It was the largest dragnet in the history of the state. They had started at Paul Holtâs counselor training center, the scene of the recent murders, and from there they had gone on to the abandoned camp, where they had found the ruined, patched-together cabin heâd been living in. From hiding, he had watched them carrying out the bodies of the counselors he had slain and brought them to the shrine he had erected to his mother, the centerpiece of which had been her rotting, decapitated head. It was all that remained of her after the girl named Alice, the soul survivor of her vengeance, had killed her at the camp, beheading her with a machete. Thinking he had drowned and blaming his death on inattentive counselors, Pamela Vorhees had been driven mad with grief and she had embarked upon a murderous vendetta to avenge her son. She butchered two young counselors while they were making love, savagely hacked them to pieces with a hunting knife so that their bodies were barely recognizable. Then she had poisoned the camp water supply. Each time someone tried to open up the camp again, she stopped them until Steve Christy, the son of..

Fear and Loathing at the Cinemaplex: Gender Differences in Descriptions and Perceptions of Slasher Films Justin M. Nolan Gery W. Ryan Department of Anthropology University of Missouri – Columbia ã May 1999 Submitted to: Sex Roles Please do not cite without authors’ permission. Direct Comments to: Justin Nolan Dept of Anthropology 107 Swallow Hall University of Missouri Columbia, MO 65211 Phone: (573)445-4625 Email: [email protected] Abstract This study investigates gender-specific descriptions and perceptions of slasher films. Sixty American undergraduate and graduate students, 30 males and 30 females, were asked to recount in a written survey the details of the most memorable slasher film they remember watching, and to describe the emotional reactions evoked by that film. A text analysis approach was used to examine and interpret informant responses. Males recall a high percentage of descriptive images associated with what is called “rural terror,” a a concept tied to fear of strangers and rural places, while females display greater fear of “family terror,” including the themes of betrayed intimacy and spiritual possession. It is found that females report a higher level and a greater number of fear reactions than males, who report more anger and frustration responses. Gender-specific fears as personalized through slasher film recall are discussed with relation to socialization practices and power-control theory. 2 Introduction "Sally is the only survivor of a night of murder and madness; she is captured and tortured by the cannibals in a grisly parody of the Mad Tea Party, but manages to escape and, after a harrowing pursuit down a back road, is rescued by a passing truck driver.

  • Peering Through the Trees, Or, Everything I've Ever
PEERING THROUGH THE TREES, OR, EVERYTHING I’VE EVER LEARNED ABOUT AMERICAN SUMMER CAMP CAME FROM FRIDAY THE 13TH PARTS 1-4 AND THE BABY-SITTERS CLUB SUPER SPECIAL #2 Erin Harrington In the early 1980s, first Mrs. Voorhees and then her damaged, homicidal son hacked and slashed their way along the shores of Crystal Lake. Fifteen years later, in New Zealand, my friends and I – all members of the VHS generation and beneficiaries of the Scholastic book club – spent our fifth form science periods at our private, all girls’ high school planning how to make our own half-baked slasher film. It was the sort of scheme that’s enormously fun to concoct and unlikely to be enacted, traced out in biro on brown chemistry benches. There was a wooded scout camp on the semi-rural outskirts of the city, spitting distance from one friend’s house, which was begging to be terrorised by a sexually ambivalent masked killer. (It was also conveniently close to Christchurch Men’s Prison, which could perhaps provide justification for a homicidal escapee.) If that didn’t work, another friend’s family had a holiday home, a chalet-style log house set amongst native forest, in an alpine village a 90-minute drive away. There were loads of places to get lost or grievously injure oneself while fleeing, plus all the comforts you could ask for in the mid-late 90s (hot water, DVD, PlayStation). Her parents also had a clunky, outsized handicam. A perfect plan. I don’t think we got much further than a list of teen archetypes (the jock, the virgin, the slut, the nerd), some detailed death scenes, and a theme song whose plinky-plonky banjo evoked a certain sense of faux-American backwoods horror.
