FRANCIS OF ASSISI School News Weekend of April 12 & 13, 2014 Move over Jersey Boys and Wicked, there are new kids on the block – the Pre-K 4! On February 28th the class performed “Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss” before a packed house. Every child had a part in the performance and they all sang songs and recited a poem. They did a fantastic job. Next stop Broadway! The children also learned interesting facts about Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel) and made their own Cat in the Hat. The children continue working hard on their alphabet letters and are learning sight words and conso- nant blends. They also know how to spell the weather words and are working on spelling the days of the week and months. In math they are learning two digit numbers, telling time and learning the value of pennies and nickels. The class celebrated Valentines Day by sharing cards and treats with their friends, on the 100 th day of school they counted 100 items by 10s and celebrated Dental Health Month by learning how to take proper care of their teeth. The children attended Mass on Ash Wednesday and were asked to make some type of sacrifice during Lent. There is never a dull moment in Pre-K 4. It is hard to believe that soon they will start practicing for their graduation. Time sure does fly when you are having fun!
