Guy Ligier started as a motorbike racer and was French Champion in 1959 and 1960. In 1966, Guy Ligier became the only F1 French driver, contesting all the Grand Prix of his time along with all the leading names. In 1968, he set up a Formula 2 team with his long-time friend Jo Schlesser, in which they were drivers. 1970 marked the first Ligier JS1 participation in the Le Mans 24-hour circuit, with Guy Ligier and Jean-Claude Andruet at the wheel. In 1974, the Ligier JS2 won the Tour de France automobile race. The car’s first F1 race in Brazil in 1976 marked the beginning of a wonderful adventure which lasted 20 years with 326 Grand Prix contested. The impressive Ligier role of honor includes 50 podium finishes, 9 victories, and second place in the 1980 F1 Constructor’s World Championship, concluding with Olivier Panis winning the Monaco Grand Prix on 19 May 1996. An exciting adventure of men and machines with the team building over 20 F1 single seaters. A winning combination of pleasure and technology The Ligier JS 49 was designed from scratch to deliver an unbeatable driving experience. The vehicle is aimed at gentlemen drivers with a passion for competition looking for victory in circuit and hillclimb racing, as well as racing driving schools and corporate events. The JS49 is a racer’s dream, combining best-of-breed technology and the rich experience of F1 engineers. In addition to stunning performance capacities, the Ligier JS49 is safe and reliable with low maintenance costs. Hugues de Chaunac’s Editorial The upcoming 88th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, to be held in September and behind closed doors this year, is shaping up to be a special one for ORECA. Our teams and I are particularly proud to see 20 ORECA 07 chassis entered in the LMP2 class. This record makes us the most represented constructor on the starting grid of the most iconic endurance race in the world! Two Rebellion R-13 are expected in LMP1 as well. The Rebellion Racing team’s stunning victory and double podium finish at the first-ever 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual has inspired us to raise the bar even higher for the actual race. Since 2012, we have made available to TOYOTA GAZOO Racing the breadth of our experience and client services through operational support, and our mechanics and engineers.

IN TOUCH THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE OF DUNLOP MOTORSPORT [ www.injection.tv ] LE MANS RACE EDITION Dunlop came away from the Le Mans 24 hours delighted with the performance of its dry and light wet tyres after a difficult race in which the changing condi- tions contributed to the overall result. “We were pretty competitive in all conditions other than full wet conditions,” says Dunlop’s chief tyre technician Matthew Simpson of the LMP2 tyres. “On the slick tyres and the light wet tyres, we had a performance advantage, but in full wet conditions we struggled to get temperature into our compounds. The Essex car had engine trouble so we were never going to do better than we did, but we have to look at the tyre perform- ance in wet conditions and make it better. “The Virgo Ferrari team were very strong and our development construction at the rear allowed us to double stint safely. There was no sign of difficulty in doing so, and there was zero deterioration from the first lap to the last in a double stint, according to the drivers. Le Mans podiums for Essex Perhaps we could have triple stinted, but we didn’t test that before the race and during the race was not the time to try. Porsche and Farnbacher Ferrari “The Creation team had four punctures and three of them were caused by debris. There was not enough left of the tyre to establish the cause of the fourth.” The 2008 edition of the Le Mans 24 hours produced was difficult to drive because sometimes the power was everything from a record breaking qualifying and race there, other times it wasn’t and we couldn’t know what to John Nielsen, Casper Elgaard and Sascha Maassen pace, a record crowd of 258,500 turning out in eager expect.

The Orange Times Bruce McLaren Trust June / July 2014, Issue #2 Farewell Sir Jack 1926 - 2014 Along with the motorsport fraternity worldwide I was extremely saddened to th hear of Sir Jack’s recent passing on the 19 May. The McLaren family and Jack have shared a wonderful life-long friendship, starting with watching his early racing days in New Zealand, then Pop McLaren purchasing the Bobtail Cooper from Jack after the NZ summer racing season of 1957. For the following season of 1958, Jack made the McLaren Service Station in Remuera his base and brought the second Cooper with him from the UK for Bruce to drive in the NZIGP which culminated in Bruce being awarded the Celebrating 50 Years of “Driver to Europe”. Jack became his mentor and close friend and by 1959 McLaren Racing Bruce joined him as teammate for the Cooper Racing Team. The rest, as we say, is history but the friendship lived on and the BM Trust Following on from their Tasman Series was delighted to host Jack in New Zealand for a week of motorsport memories success, the fledgling BMMR Team set about in 2003 with Jack requesting that the priority of the trip was to be a visit to their very first sports car race with the Zerex see his “NZ Mum” Ruth McLaren, who, by then, was a sprightly 97 years old. th Special – on April 11 1964 at Oulton Park and I shared a very special hour with the two of them together and the love and this was a DNF/oil pressure.
