TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements For Flag Raising Ceremony and Public Processions on 1 July 2014 Members of the public are advised that the following traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented on 1 July 2014 (Tuesday) to facilitate the following events: 1. Flag raising ceremony at Golden Bauhinia Square in the morning; 2. Public Procession from King’s Road Playground to Victoria Park in the afternoon 3. Public Procession from Hennessy Road near Southorn Centre to Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct in the afternoon; and 4. Public Procession from Victoria Park to Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct in the afternoon. 1. Flag Raising Ceremony in Wan Chai North A. Road Closure From 5.30 am to 11.00 am, the following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic except authorized vehicles: (a) Expo Drive; (b) Expo Drive Central; and (c) Expo Drive East. B. Special Public Transport Arrangements (a) Expo Drive East bus terminus will be suspended from 12.00 midnight to 11.00 am. During the period of suspension, cross-harbour route 961 and Citybus routes 25A will terminate at Wan Chai Ferry Pier bus terminus. A temporary bus stop for New World First Bus route H2 will be provided at Wan Chai Ferry Pier bus terminus; and (b) The taxi stand at Expo Drive will be suspended from 5.30 am to 11.00 am. C. Suspension of Parking Spaces (a) The coach metered parking spaces at Expo Drive East will be suspended from 10.00 pm on 30 June 2014 to 11.00 am of the following day; and (b) The public bus parking spaces and pick-up / drop-off area at Expo Drive East will be suspended from 12.00 midnight to 11.00 am. 1 2. Public Procession from King’s Road Playground to Victoria Park A. Road Closure The following roads will be intermittently closed to all vehicular traffic from about 12.30 pm onwards until the crowd has dispersed and the traffic resumes normal: (a) Marble Road westbound; (b) Kam Hong Street between Marble Road and King’s Road; (c) King’s Road westbound between Kam Hong Street and Tung Lo Wan Road; and (d) Causeway Road westbound. Vehicles parked in carparks within the closed areas may not be permitted to leave or enter the car parks during the road closure period until the crowd has dispersed and the road closure is lifted. 3. Public Procession from Hennessy Road near Southorn Centre to Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct in the afternoon A. Road Closure The following roads will be intermittently closed to all vehicular traffic from about 13.30 pm onwards until the crowd has dispersed and the traffic resumes normal: (a) Hennessy Road westbound between O’brien Road and Queen’s Road East; and (b) Queensway westbound. Vehicles parked in carparks within the closed areas may not be permitted to leave or enter the car parks during the road closure period until the crowd has dispersed and the road closure is lifted. 4. Public Procession from Victoria Park to Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct I. Special Traffic Arrangements A. Road Closure (see Figure 1) (a) The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic from about 1.30 pm onwards until the crowd has dispersed and the road closure is lifted: (i) The U-turn slip road between Gloucester Road southbound and northbound; (ii) Sugar Street; (iii) Great George Street (if necessary); (iv) Paterson Street (if necessary); (v) Kingston Street (if necessary); (vi) Gloucester Road southbound between Victoria Park Road flyover and Causeway Road (if necessary); and (vii) Cleveland Street (if necessary). 2 (b) The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic from about 2.15 pm onwards until the crowd has dispersed and the road closure is lifted: (i) Jardine’s Bazaar; (ii) Tang Lung Street; (iii) Canal Road East between Russell Street and Hennessy Road; (iv) Canal Road West between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road; (v) Wan Chai Road between Canal Road West and Morrison Hill Road; and (vi) Bowrington Road between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road. (c) The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic from about 2.30 pm onwards until the crowd has dispersed and the road closure is lifted: (i) Causeway Road westbound; (ii) Moreton Terrace; (iii) Shelter Street; (iv) Slip road leading from Yee Wo Street eastbound to Causeway Road westbound; (v) Irving Street; (vi) Pennington Street between Keswick Street and Yee Wo Street; (vii) Yee Wo Street westbound; (viii) Hennessy Road westbound; (ix) Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road; (x) Kai Chiu Road; (xi) Yun Ping Road between Lan Fong Road and Kai Chiu Road; (xii) Percival Street between Lockhart Road and Hennessy Road; (xiii) Slip road leading from Johnston Road eastbound to Hennessy Road westbound; (xiv) Luard Road between Johnston Road and Hennessy Road; (xv) Thomson Road between Johnston Road and Luard Road; (xvi) Fenwick Street between Hennessy Road and Johnston Road; (xvii) Gloucester Road southbound between Victoria Park Road flyover and Causeway Road; (xviii) Johnston Road westbound between Ship Street and Hennessy Road; and (xix) Johnston Road eastbound between Landale Street and Hennessy Road. (d) The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic from about 3.30 pm onwards until the crowd has dispersed and the road closure is lifted: (i) Queensway westbound between Queen’s Road East and Queen’s Road Central; (ii) Des Voeux Road Central between Queensway and Pedder Street; (iii) Bank Street; (iv) Ice House Street northbound between Queen’s Road Central and Des Voeux Road Central. (v) Chater Road between Jackson Road and Murray Road; (vi) Jackson Road; (vii) Club Street; and (viii) Unnamed Road between Chater Road and Connaught Road Central. 3 (e) If necessary, the following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic at any time until the crowd has dispersed and the road closure is lifted: (i) Yacht Street; (ii) Lau Li Street between Ngan Mok Street and Hing Fat Street; (iii) Electric Road between Lau Sin Street and Tsing Fung Street; (iv) Lau Sin Street west of King’s Road; (v) Hing Fat Street between Causeway Road and Lau Sin Street; (vi) Tai Hang Road flyover northbound between slip road of Tung Lo Wan Road and Victoria Park Road westbound; and (vii) Percival Street southbound between Gloucester Road service road and Lockhart Road. B. Traffic Diversion (a) The following traffic diversion will be implemented from about 1.30 pm onwards until the crowd has dispersed and the road closure is lifted: (i) Traffic along Gloucester Road southbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Gloucester Road northbound; (ii) Traffic along Yee Wo Street eastbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Sugar Street; (iii) Traffic along Tai Hang Road flyover northbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Kingston Street westbound; (iv) Traffic along Victoria Park Road flyover southbound will be diverted to turn right onto Gloucester Road service road westbound; (v) Traffic along Victoria Park Road southbound will be prohibited from entering Cleveland Street; (vi) Traffic along Paterson Street southbound must turn left onto Kingston Street eastbound; (vii) Traffic along Cleveland Street southbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Kingston Street westbound; (viii) Traffic along Gloucester Road service road westbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Cleveland Street southbound; and (ix) Traffic along Gloucester Road service road westbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Paterson Street southbound. (b) The following traffic diversion will be implemented from about 2.15 pm onwards until the crowd has dispersed and the road closure is lifted: (i) Traffic along Pennington Street northbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Jardine’s Bazaar; (ii) Traffic along Hennessy Road westbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Canal Road East southbound; (iii) Traffic along Russell Street westbound must turn left onto Canal Road East southbound; (iv) Traffic along Canal Road West northbound near Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to Canal Road flyover northbound; (v) Traffic along Sharp Street West eastbound will be diverted to the up- ramp leading to Canal Road flyover northbound; (vi) Traffic along Sharp Street West eastbound will be prohibited from 4 turning left onto Bowrington Road northbound; (vii) Traffic along Bowrington Road northbound must turn right onto Sharp Street West eastbound; (viii) Traffic along Wan Chai Road eastbound must turn right onto Morrison Hill Road southbound; (ix) Traffic along the slip road of Victoria Park Road westbound must turn right onto Gloucester Road westbound; and (x) Traffic along Victoria Park Road flyover southbound must turn right onto Gloucester Road westbound. (c) The following traffic diversion will be implemented from about 2.30 pm onwards until the crowd has dispersed and the road closure is lifted: (i) Traffic from King’s Road westbound must turn left onto Tung Lo Wan Road southbound or turn right onto Hing Fat Street northbound; (ii) The section of Tung Lo Wan Road between Eastern Hospital Road and Moreton Terrace will be converted from eastbound traffic to westbound traffic; (iii) Traffic along Tung Lo Wan Road westbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Moreton Terrace; (iv) Traffic along Tung Lo Wan Road westbound east of Moreton Terrace will be allowed to enter the section of Tung Lo Wan Road westbound between Eastern Hospital Road and Moreton Terrace; (v) Traffic along Tung Lo Wan Road southbound will be prohibited from turning left onto the
