Ketch Secor Slated As Tennessee Craft Week Honorary Chair Grammy Award-winning Artist to Advocate for Handcrafted Art

Nashville, Tenn. (September 14, 2020) Tennessee Craft announces Ketch Secor, lead singer of Old Crow Medicine Show, as the 2020 Tennessee Craft Week Honorary Chair. He will serve as the spokesman to spotlight the professional craft artists and their work during October 2-11, 2020.

Tennessee Craft Week (TCW) celebrates handmade craft "Made in Tennessee" and invites you to watch a video or demonstration from artists across the state, visit the virtual Tennessee Craft Fair, find events via the TCW “virtual road trip” tool, and take advantage of opportunities to meet the state’s talented artists. The sixth annual Tennessee Craft Week is held in conjunction with American Craft Week, (in its eleventh year) highlighting craft across the nation.

Ketch Secor is a founding member of Old Crow Medicine Show, a Grammy award-winning American string band who are also members of the revered Grand Ole Opry. The band’s classic single, “Wagon Wheel”, received the RIAA’s Double-Platinum certification in 2019 for selling over 2,000,000 copies, while the band’s debut album O.C.M.S. has been certified Gold (500,000 copies). The band’s latest release is Live At The Ryman (2019), which was released on Columbia via The Orchard. Ketch lives in Nashville, TN.

Secor authored a children’s book titled, “Lorraine: The Girl Who Sang the Storm Away.” The book, illustrated by Higgins Bond, highlights both family bonds and the power of music. This uplifting story has been brought to life through The Nashville Public Library Puppet Truck to be presented throughout the community. Profits from the book provide funding for the Episcopal School of Nashville. Secor also hosts Old Crow Medicine Show’s You Tube show The Hartland Hootenanny that airs live on Saturday nights. A creative outlet during quarantine, the Hootenanny features live music, socially distanced square dance, special guests and comedy. Ketch says, “I have always believed in the power of music and the creative arts to transcend the spirit. Tennessee Craft Week offers artisans across the state a focused occasion to share their unique craft art and their process with the community, enriching many lives across the state. I am pleased to be the Honorary Chairman of this celebration of craft in Tennessee.”

Tennessee Craft Week honors and promotes professional craft artists across the state each October. Local makers incorporate contemporary materials, adding their unique ideas and inventive techniques in keeping with traditional artisan quality.
