It is as under: Maa Sati, after leaving her corporal form, took birth as Parvati as the daughter of Giriraj Himalaya and his wife Maneka. Parvati used to worship Lord Shiva by making a Shivling (the holy phallus) of sand with a desire to attain him as her husband. ECONSPEAK: A Journal of Advances in Management IT & Social Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 8, August 2020 Impact Factor 6.569 ISSN: (2231-4571) www.skirec.org Email Id: [email protected] Vaishnava pilgrimage sites in Nepal Kalpana Shrestha, Ph.D Associate Professor Padma Kanya Multiple College, Kathmandu Abstract In Hindu community, the group that considers Lord Vishnu as a foremost deity is called Vaishnava sect. Since the earliest times of Vedic civilization, faith and devotion for Lord Vishnu had existed. This tradition has been going on continuously. Vaishnavism had gained popularity in Nepal before the beginning of Christ. Some of the places had already become famous as Vaishnava pilgrimage sites. Saptakoshi and Koka River's Varaha, Muktikshetra, Rurukshetra, and Janakpurdham are well known Vaishnava pilgrimage sites of Nepal. Bathing in the rivers of these religious places, worshiping in the name of gods and giving Tarpan (to offer holy water in the name of deceased parents and ancestors), etc. are considered to be virtuous deeds. In ancient times, there were Vaishnava pilgrimage sites at various places. In those pilgrimage sites, including Vishnu, idols of other gods and goddesses were also found. This demonstrates the existing religious tolerance in the country. Nepal's pilgrimage sites have become famous not only because of their cultural heritage but also due to the religious festivals held in the local areas. Pilgrims from all over the country come to Vaishnava pilgrimage sites on auspicious days like Vaikuntha Chaturdashi, Maghe Sakranti, Kartik Purnima, Janai Purnima, Ram Navami, etc. Key Words: Vaishnavism, Varahakshetra, Muktikshetra, Rurukshetra, Janakpurdham, pilgrimage, cultural heritage Introduction Vaishnavism is one of the major sects of Hinduism. -

Abstract: The main purpose of this study is to investigate different aspects of the Teej festival in which Hindu women observe fast, worship Lord Shiva, sing songs and perform dances. Modernization and ritual theories are deeply observed to analyze my research questions. The main leading questions are: what is the importance of Teej festival in Hindu women? How is it celebrated? How is this festival affected by modernization and globalization? How do young generations understand this festival? And how does this festival help to revitalize Hindu women in their culture? These questions will be addressed in this research-based paper. Teej is the traditional festival of one and only Nepali Hindu women. Teej has been based on religion and recreation but now it is in the verge of change. This recreational and religious festival has its own significance in the specific context of Nepali society and culture. Teej has an adaptive cultural system (of socially transmitted behavior patterns) that serve to relate Hindu as well as non-Hindu communities to their socio-natural settings. Teej is also the occasion for sending lavish gift inclusive of food, clothes and occasionally simple valuable ornaments to one’s daughter’s mother-in-law and her close relatives of husband’s side during the first year after marriage. It is obligatory among the professed high caste Hindus- Brahman and Kshetri. -

Most of them however explain Kathmandu valley as the center of Nepal. According to Gopalraj Bansawali, in the beginning Kathmandu was a big lake called the Nagdaha. Lord Krishna drained the water from the valley by cutting the hill at Chobhar with his Sudarshan Chakra or wheel; he then nominated Bhuktamana the King of the valley. Since the people who came with Lord Krishna were cowherds their dynasty was called Gopal Dynasty. According to dialect: - 1. Tibetan: - There are two terms in Nepal. They are "Ne" house and " Pal" wool. So Nepal is a house of wool. Ancient Nepal was renowned as woolen producer, which woolen products were exported to different Indian continental nations. 2. Lepcha:- " Ne" means sacred and "Pal" means cave or nation that refer to mean that sacred cave or sacred nation in Lepcha language. 3. Newar :- " Ne" means mid/ middle and " Pa" means country situated in Himalaya . 4.
