Mai auch die Kollektion ChangesOneBowie in schwarzem oder transparentem Vinyl, als CD und in digitalen Formaten! Das Album kommt als 180g Vinyl, als CD und in digitalen Formaten, unter anderem als Mastered for iTunes. Eine Hälfte der Vinyl-Auflage ist auf schwarzes Vinyl gepresst, die andere Hälfte auf transparentes Vinyl. Da die Farbe des Vinyls auf dem Cover nicht gekennzeichnet ist, bleibt es dem Zufall überlassen, welche Version der Fan bekommt. ChangesOneBowie war die erste wirkliche BOWIE-Best Of-Compilation und erschien im Mai 1976, als BOWIE bereits Superstar-Status besaß. Das Album bestand aus 11 Songs aus den Jahren 1969 bis 1976. Das Highlight auf dem Album war der Song John, I’m Only Dancing, der 1972 auf Single erschien und auf keinem Album zu haben war. In den USA wurde er sogar erst im Rahmen von ChangesOneBowie auf den Markt gebracht, da man in BOWIEs „bisexuellen Phase“ die Befürchtung hatte, der Song könne eine homosexuelle Konnotation besitzen. Weitere Hits auf ChangesOneBowie stammen aus fast allen Alben, außer The Man Who Sold The World: Space Oddity (aus David Bowie a.k.a. Space Oddity), Changes (aus Hunky Dory), Ziggy Stardust und Sufragette City (aus The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars), The Jean Genie (aus Aladdin Sane), Diamond Dogs und Rebel Rebel (aus Diamond Dogs), Young Americans und Fame (aus Young Americans) sowie Golden Years (aus Station to Station). ChangesOneBowie wurde umgehend zu einem Welterfolg und katapultierte sich auf Platz 2 im UK und auf Platz 10 in den USA, wo es zunächst mit Gold ausgezeichnet wurde und im Jahr 1981 noch Platin erreichte. Schon 1985 veröffentlichte RCA es zusammen mit ChangesTwoBowie (1981) im CD-Format und war bis 1990 vergriffen, als es unter dem Titel ChangesBowie im CD-Format aufgelegt wurde (in den USA von RykoDisc, im UK durch die EMI). Die 1990 überarbeitete Version enthielt 18 Songs (21 in der UK-Vinyl- und Cassetten-Edition) und enthielt überdies einen Fame-Remix von 1990. Die Neufassung ging in die Top-40 der Billboard 200 und spielte sich auf Platz 1 der UK-Charts. Tribute to David Bowie By Jennifer Sage The world lost a magical, mystical, playful, brilliant artist on Sunday, January 10, 2016. I woke to the sad news and immediately found myself purchasing many of his songs that I didn’t already own. David Bowie was a big part of my youth. When I was a freshman in high school, I embroidered rock-and-roll artists’ names on my jeans (yeah, that was a thing back then). David Bowie had a coveted spot on my right knee. It was 1976, and the Bump was the big dance craze at the time. Bowie’s hit song “Fame,” filled with soul, was a perfect song for the Bump. To this day, I can’t hear that song without my mind going back to Saint Augustine High School dances in San Diego. All of the songs in my playlist were performed by David Bowie except one, “Lust for Life,” but he co-wrote it with Iggy Pop. The only other time I have done a profile tribute to a band or artist using solely their music was with REM, and that was to celebrate their retirement, not a death. Even after we lost such great artists as Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston, I could only bring myself to play a handful of their songs. There are many covers, remixes, and mashups of David Bowie songs that you could incorporate in your tribute playlist, as well as duets and other artists of his era, so you don’t have to play just Bowie songs. But before you dismiss the idea, remember that David Bowie’s art not only spanned decades, he also spanned many genres and styles.

Tickets for the Saturday, March 16 concert at Parker Playhouse go on sale Friday, September 14 at 10 a.m. A Bowie Celebration features alumni band members Mike Garson, Earl Slick, Gerry Leonard and Carmine Rojas along with world-class vocalists such as Bernard Fowler and Corey Glover, among others, and drummer Lee John performing a mix of Bowie’s hits and deep-cuts. Kicking off February 6 in Mesa, Arizona, A Bowie Celebration then stops in Los Angeles February 7 at the Orpheum Theatre before making its way across the country and into Canada. The critically acclaimed show will stop in San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Denver, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, New York City (March 5 at Irving Plaza), Philadelphia, Louisville, Nashville, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, and Austin, among many other cities, before wrapping March 22 in Dallas.
