BALIMO™ SEAT SYMPOSIUM WITH EECCKKAARRTT MMEEYYNNEERRSS MARCH 15, 2008 PRESENTED BY: EQUESTRIAN EDUCATION SYSTEMS HOST SITE: STIRLING FARM, FOLSOM, LA

AN EDUCATIONAL EVENT FOR TRAINERS AND RIDERS

Eckart Meyners is a professor of Sports Physiology and Movement at the Sports University in Lüneburg, Germany. He has worked with the German FN (National Equestrian Federation) for twenty-five years, and has been instrumental in developing the progress of equestrian instruc- tion/methodology and rider training in Germany. He has authored three books in English: Fit for Riding, Effective Teaching & Riding: Exploring Balance and Motion, Program for Better Riding: Books 1-5 and the Balimo™ Exercise Program for Riders DVD, as well as numerous books and articles on the development of the rider’s seat and instructor edu- cation in German.

Mr. Meyners believes that form follows function, and that each rider is a unique individual in body and mind. He provides exercises that enable the rider to effectively move in harmony with their horse by unlocking points of resistance. To achieve this, he integrates the concepts of bio- mechanics, Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais and more. This Seat Symposium is designed for riders and trainers across disciplines and levels of experience.

This new format more actively involves the audience, as trained Balimo™ Instructors will be available to assist everyone with the exer- cises. It has been four years since this incredibly popular master of movement first visited Folsom to work will riders. It is with great antici- pation that we welcome him back.

| 28 SOUTHERN EVENTING & DRESSAGE ASSOCIATION S MARCH / APRIL 2007 Important Notice for Schooling Show Organizers

In years past, SEDA agreed to “recognize” certain schooling dressage shows and combined tests for collection of year- end points for its members with the understanding that each event (i.e. organizers) would pay a nominal fee for this service. In the two years since Hurricane Katrina, SEDA waived the event charge to help rebuild show prospects and to accommodate show organizers. However, the SEDA Board has voted to reinstate this event charge beginning with the first show of the 2008 season, effective December 1, 2007. The new per-event charge for each schooling dressage show and combined test will be $30.00 and is to be paid to the SEDA treasurer (currently Janel Martin) before the event takes place. For those events currently under SEDA- recognition, we will not require the old form to be completed; however, new events or shows should contact the board for permission. There are regulatory guidelines and helpful reminders that can be provided. All event organizers should remember that if rules and regulations are not followed, or if the event charge is not received, SEDA reserves the right to pull recognition and all points accrued will not count for year-end awards. We appreciate your understanding, your time and efforts, and your contributions to the club. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to address them to our Board. We look forward to another spectacular show season!
