Honestly, after looking at thisyou'll think that her body-hugging catsuit is pretty prudish. In other words, go into this expecting to see an abundance of ass cheeks and boobies. The basic 3 star plot, 5 star art The story wasn't some over-complicated mess, the panels weren't crammed with dialogue, and the art was lovely. The basic premise is that Selina heads to Rome to solve the who's your Catwoman: When in Rome mystery. Edward Nigma seems like a good choice Catwoman: When in Rome help her solve that Riddle, so she brings him along for the ride. Unfortunately, most of the time he's more trouble than he's worth. She sorta? Now, there were Catwoman: When in Rome lot of WTF moments Catwoman: When in Rome her and this guy. English language. doi: 10.1386/jucs.4.1-2.241_1 MARTIN LUND Linnaeus University ‘Every day is 9/11!’: Re-constructing Ground Zero in three US comics ABSTRACT KEYWORDS This article analyses three comics series: writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Tony comics Harris’ Ex Machina (August 2004–August 2010); writer Brian Wood and artist Ground Zero Riccardo Burchielli’s DMZ (November 2005–February 2012); and writer Garth 9/11 Ennis and artist Darick Robertson’s The Boys (October 2006–November 2012). archifictions Taking literary critic Laura Frost’s concept of ‘archifictions’ as its starting point, the War on Terror article discusses how these series frame the September 11 attacks on New York and architecture their aftermath, but its primary concern is with their engagement with the larger social ramifications of 9/11 and with the War on Terror, and with how this engage- ment is rooted in and centred on Ground Zero. It argues that this rooting allows these comics’ creators to critique post-9/11 US culture and foreign policy, but that it also, ultimately, serves to disarm the critique that each series voices in favour of closure through recourse to recuperative architecture. The attacks on September 11 continue to be felt in US culture. Comics are no exception. Comics publishers, large and small, responded immediately and comics about the attacks or the War on Terror have been coming out ever since. Largely missing from these comics, however, is an engagement with Ground Zero; after depicting the Twin Towers struck or falling, artists and writers rarely give the area a second thought.

This relationship has also informed superhero comics themselves – going all the way back to Superman’s debut in Action Comics 1 (June 1938). As DC President Paul Levitz says of the development of the superhero: ‘There was an enormous desire to see social justice, a rectifying of corruption. Superman was a fulfillment of a pent-up passion for the heroic solution’ (quoted in Poniewozik 2002: 57). • “Why So Serious?” Comics, Film and Politics, Or the Comic Book Film As the Answer to the Question of Identity and Narrative in a Post-9/11 World
ABSTRACT “WHY SO SERIOUS?” COMICS, FILM AND POLITICS, OR THE COMIC BOOK FILM AS THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION OF IDENTITY AND NARRATIVE IN A POST-9/11 WORLD by Kyle Andrew Moody This thesis analyzes a trend in a subgenre of motion pictures that are designed to not only entertain, but also provide a message for the modern world after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The analysis provides a critical look at three different films as artifacts of post-9/11 culture, showing how the integration of certain elements made them allegorical works regarding the status of the United States in the aftermath of the attacks. Jean Baudrillard‟s postmodern theory of simulation and simulacra was utilized to provide a context for the films that tap into themes reflecting post-9/11 reality. The results were analyzed by critically examining the source material, with a cultural criticism emerging regarding the progression of this subgenre of motion pictures as meaningful work. “WHY SO SERIOUS?” COMICS, FILM AND POLITICS, OR THE COMIC BOOK FILM AS THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION OF IDENTITY AND NARRATIVE IN A POST-9/11 WORLD A Thesis Submitted to the Faculty of Miami University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts Department of Communications Mass Communications Area by Kyle Andrew Moody Miami University Oxford, Ohio 2009 Advisor ___________________ Dr. Bruce Drushel Reader ___________________ Dr. Ronald Scott Reader ___________________ Dr. David Sholle TABLE OF CONTENTS ACKNOWLEDGMENTS .......................................................................................................................... Written by konstantinwe. I've just come back from a preview screening of Batman Batman Begins. I went in with low expectations, despite the excellence of Christopher Nolan's previous efforts. Talk about having your expectations confounded! This film grips like wet rope from the start. I won't give away any of the story; suffice to say it mixes and matches its sources freely, tossing in a dash of Frank Miller, a bit of Alan Moore and a pinch of Bob Kane to great effect. What's impressive is that despite the weight of the franchise, Nolan has managed to work so many of his trademarks into a mainstream movie.

Fredericton, NB ISBN 0-86492-042-3 Chapter Two “LIGHTS OUT” They found her under a hummock of moss in a field by the Harbour Road. The moss thereabouts was peculiar, a kind having long stems and feathery heads. It grew everywhere and one mound covered what looked much like any other. But one was different and “you wouldn’t have noticed it unless you were looking for it.” a policeman said later. Its difference was that a human foot protruded from it. “There she is!” a girl shrieked, and then fled. The girl who almost stepped on the mossy “grave” was one of the four who went to the lonely field that afternoon looking for traces of their friend. Moments before Cpl. Dunn had found a girl’s shoe, the mate to another Thomas Gaudet picked up a few hours earlier on Deadman’s Harbour Road nearby. Gaudet spotted the show as he and Oscar Craig walked along the road about 4:00 pm that Sunday in 1942. It was a good shoe and a new one. Not all women in Blacks Harbour had such expensive footwear as this. News travels fast in a small town. He’d heard that day that one of the Connors girls was missing and suspicion made him take the shoe home. One of the Gaudet children was almost certain: it belong to Bernice Connors. • MLJ's Silver Age Revivals
ASK MR. SHUTTSILVER AGE “Too Many Super Heroes” doesn’t really do this group justice MLJ’s Silver Age revivals by CRAIG SHUTT Dear Mr. Silver Age, I’m a big fan of The Fly and Fly Girl, and I understand they were members of a super-hero team. Do you know who else was a member? Betty C. Riverdale Mr. Silver Age says: I sure do, Bets, and you’ll be happy to hear that a few of those stalwart super-heroes are returning to the pages of DC’s comic books. The first to arrive are The Shield, The Web, The Hangman, and Inferno. They’re being touted as the heroes from Archie Comics’ short-lived Red Circle line of the 1980s, but they all got their start much earlier than that, including brief appearances in the Silver Age. During those halcyon days, they all were members of (or at least tried out for) The Mighty Crusaders! And, if the new adventures prove popular, there are plenty more heroes awaiting their own revival. The Mighty Crusaders, Archie’s response to the mid-1960s success of super-hero teams, got their start in Fly Man #31 (May 65). The team consisted of The Shield, Black Hood, The Comet, Fly Man (né The Fly), and Fly Girl. The first three were revived versions of Golden Age characters, while the latter two starred in their own Silver Age series. The heroes teamed up for several issues and then began individual back-up adventures through #39. They also starred in seven issues of Mighty Crusaders starting with #1 (Nov 65) and then took over Fly Man in various combinations, when it became Mighty Comics with #40 (Nov 66).
