The British Ragdoll Cat Club 5 January 2013. The THE BRITISH RAGDOLL CAT CLUB 5 TH JANUARY 2013. THE KORAT & THAI CAT ASSOCIATION SHORTHAIR CAT SOCIETY SHEILA P HAMILTON © A very busy and a very enjoyable event staged by seven clubs/societies/associations providing excellent organisation on the part of all concerned. LINDA ASHMORE the Show Manager was in her usual competent and efficient mode as she bustled about. It was good to see her looking so well again. I spent the majority of my day in the Ragdoll section and will therefore report on this show first. Congratulations to PAULA LONG and to her Assistants KAREN HARNELL and MARGARET WALKDEN- all their hard work paid off and their organisation and hospitality left nothing to be desired. My day was made complete by having the very good company of an excellent steward MARGARET LYNCH who handled the cats with expertise and dedication. Thank you Margaret, I look forward to next time My very enjoyable day was made complete by judging the overall Best in Show with a lovely line up of the cream of the Ragdoll Breed. My overall winner was a superb representative of the breed - a very handsome neuter boy with presence owned by MRS M.PENMAN PR DIZZIPAWS ROBERTO 66AW .He showed excellent type throughout with a superb temperament and was beautifully prepared and presented. Congratulations to both ROBERTO and his very happy owner on their successful day. OLYMPIAN CLASS A.C OR PATTERNED IMPERIAL GRAND CHAMPION MALE ( 2 ENTERED) 1ST & OLYMPIAN CERT TO HAWORTH UK & IMP GR CH DIZZIPAWS BRUCE 66 MALE 2/8/06 A very handsome and masculine boy showing excellent classic type to his strong and broad head with excellent top and flat plane. Well placed and proportionate ears . Large, expressive eyes of a mid blue colour paling slightly towards the rims. Excellent definition to his nasal tilt. Bite is level and he shows very good breadth to muzzle ,width to cheeks and very good depth to his chin. Massive frame enhanced by his thick neck, deep chest and good sturdy legs with large round paws. Excellent bone, substance and masculinity. Silky coat texture not quite in full winter phase but his ruff and breeches are full and of a good length. Dense seal brown points with some seal brown tonal shading to his coat. Slight evidence of stud tail to his well balanced, bushy tail forgiven because he is a working boy! Nevertheless he was very well prepared and presented and has a wonderful temperament . RESERVE JONES UK& IMP GR CH SILKIESTAR RAPHAEL 66/31/MALE 3/4/04 Another lovely boy showing lovely overall balance and type. Large, broad head with well placed and proportionate ears. For perfection I would prefer slightly more definition to his flat plane. Very good eye shape and colour with setting marginally close and very slightly deep in setting Well defined retrousee nose with level bite, good width to cheeks and with very good depth to his chin. Bite appeared level but he was salivating to excess which was running down to his excellent full bib .Clear and well formed bi colour pattern- showing a well formed inverted “V”, chin and with an immaculate under body. Dense and silky coat with full ruff and breeches. Bushy tail was slightly short and not quite matching in colour . A delightful boy for temperament and was shown in excellent physical condition. Excellent massive and masculine frame in proportion to his substantial thick legs and large , round paws, Long, straight back and with very good neck and deep chest. A.C COLOURPOINTED KITTEN 6-9 MONTHS MALE 1 BRADLEY ONYX MYBOY MIKA 66A MALE 22/6/12 Quite a young boy being mid way through kitten hood but already showing promising type and having the desired Ragdoll expression. Well placed and proportionate ears enhancing his flat plane. Dual shades of blue to his well set round eyes. Muzzle and cheeks are still developing breadth. Bite is level and he has very good depth to his chin. Nasal tilt is apparent. Excellent boning and budding masculinity for his age with limbs and tail in balance. Clear, glacial white tone to silky, baby coat .Pale blue , matching points colour. A delightful boy to judge and was shown in very good condition. 2 WILTON BAKER PARTYPALACE CHOKLAT TRUFFL66 MALE 20/6/12 Almost the same age at the winner but not quite as strong nor as well balanced in the head as yet. Proportionate ears with flat plane and width to top still developing. Good nasal tilt. Excellent eye shape, deep blue colour and typical expression. Bite is level but the chin is rather shallow. Firm and well grown and well balanced body for his age. Excellent pale fawn coat colour of a lovely silky texture. Points colour is still developing and to match up but the mask and ears are of a very good seal brown tone. Excellent disposition and temperament. (A) A.C COLOURPOINTED KITTEN 6-9 MONTHS FEMALE 1 BOB JAMIESON MERCHEYDOLLZ ARIANNA 66G F 2/6/12 A very pleasing and typical girl showing style and promise. She was well prepared and presented and is of a very good temperament. Good breadth to head and width between her ears with flat plane well developed. Very good eye shape, colour and setting. Nasal tilt is still developing. Bite is level and her chin is firm. Very good body type and balance- she is well boned and shows very good substance for the age and gender. Excellent length to tail perfecting her very good conformation. Well mingled points complimenting her clear and silky coat still at the kitten stage for length and density. 2 HARRISON DOLLYBROOKE DARNIKA 66E F 30/5/12 A very attractive girl showing overall very good type and promise , however she still needs to grow into her slightly large ears which she carries slightly high. Good breadth to head with very good definition to her upward tilt to nose. Good breadth to muzzle and having a level bite. Very good eye shape, colour and expression. Well grown and well balanced body for her age and gender. Attractive seal tortie pattern with well mingled points showing shades of seal brown and reds , Clear pale fawn ,silky coat still passing through kitten stage. Promising- was well prepared and presented and is of an excellent temperament. 3 CANLIN RAGZNDREAMS SATIN N LACE 66A F 21.5.12 Another very pleasing baby with flat plane and ears placement still to develop and settle. Correct upward tilt to her nose and with very good depth to her chin. Bite is level.Very good eyes for colour , shape setting and expression. A well grown and well balanced girl showing very good boning and substance for her age and gender. Matching pale blue points colour complimenting her clear , glacial white , silky baby coat. Shown to advantage and was a pleasure to judge. 4 SALTER CWTCHYCATS RASPBERRY RIPPLE 66D F 16/4/12 The oldest girl in this class but not quite having the strength of head nor the type potential of the other girls. She does however show certain qualities which I shall mention first. The eyes show excellent colour shape , setting and typical expression. Excellent near white coat colour complimenting and contrasting with her vivid red points, which show almost matching red tone on all points. Very good bone, substance and weight to her typical Ragdoll frame. Sturdy legs and with good balance to her bushy tail. Lovely temperament and condition. The head is not as yet in balance and has still to broaden . Her flat plane needs further development/definition and she shows a bump on her nose which is not typical of the breed. The bite is level but her chin is shallow. The muzzle and cheeks require more width . (B) A.C. COLOURPOINTED KITTEN 6-9 MONTHS FEMALE 1 ANDREWS SONNYWOOD SWETWILLOW 66G F 9/4/12 Almost adult and she is a very attractive girl still developing and with the flat plane still to define more and the ears to settle at a lower angle. Cheeks and muzzle have still to broaden out. Upward tilt shows definition , her bite is level and she has excellent depth to her chin. Excellent boning and type to her well grown body, with sturdy legs, large round paws and with very good balance to her bushy tail. She excels on her coat which is full , silky and of a clear glacial white tone. This shows excellent subtle contrast with her well mingled points showing shades of blue and creams. Her ruff is well through as are her knickerbockers. Excellent disposition and was a pleasure to judge. 2 COWSILL ADZWOLD MEMPHIS 66A F 27/4/12 Another attractive girl , still developing . Very good top of head with flat plane apparent. Excellent deep blue eyes showing very good shape and setting. Bite is level and she has reasonable depth to her chin. As yet her muzzle is a little fine which maturity should improve. Nasal upward tilt requires more development. Very good growth and weight for the age and gender. She is well balanced throughout with correct sturdy legs, round paws and bushy tail. Silky coat showing some slight tonal shading. Matching mid blue points colour. Very good condition and temperament. 3 CANLIN RAGZNDREAMS SUGARN SPICE 66E F 14/4/12 She is slightly short in the head which robs her of the required ragdoll look and detracts from her nasal upward tilt which is apparent. At present her ears are too large and carried too high for the breed standard. Large , round eyes lacking in depth of colour.

  • Printable Breed Introduction
TICA Khaomanee Breed Introduction www.tica.org General Description: With one blue eye and one eye ranging from copper through yellow to green, this shining white cat from Thailand captures the imagination. Khaomanee (sometimes seen as Khao Manee) means White Gem and is thought to have been a favorite in the royal palaces. A heart- shaped face with high cheekbones and a brilliant white coat like diamonds belie the naughtiness of these stunning cats, but their devotion to you will have you admiring the naughtiness that these intelligent cats so enjoy as they entertain you with their antics. History: Several related breeds have their origins, ancient origins, in Thailand. The Siamese (Wichien-maat), the Burmese (Suphalak), the Korat (Dork Lao) and the Khaomanee. The first three breeds are well-established in the West but the Khaomanee has remained a well-kept secret in its native Thailand. Like the other breeds, we find references to the Khaomanee in the Tamra Maew (an ancient collection of Thai cat poems from 1350). Although in that text, it is called the Khao Plort. While the eyes were originally referred to as the color of mercury, the eye color was changed to reflect the odd-eyed cats that were considered lucky and also to have the yellow eyes like canary diamonds that breeders also favored. Interest in these striking cats has grown in the West, and in 1999, Colleen Freymouth imported the first Khaomanee, Sripia, from Thailand to the US. She also imported a male and bred the first Khaomanee litter in North America. Janet Poulsen (Odyssey cattery) exported the first Khaomanee to the UK, and interest in the breed is growing there, as breeders import more of these stunning cats from Thailand to continue developing the breed.

A. Pistorius1,2* and Ineke Blokker2 Abstract Background: For many years, breeders of companion animals have applied inbreeding or line breeding to trans- fer desirable genetic traits from parents to their ofspring. Simultaneously, this resulted in a considerable spread of hereditary diseases and phenomena associated with inbreeding depression. Results: Our cluster analysis of kinship and inbreeding coefcients suggests that the Thai or traditional Siamese cat could be considered as a subpopulation of the Siamese cat, which shares common ancestors, although they are con- sidered as separate breeds.
