Bibury is undoubtedly one of the most quintessential places you will ever visit in the Cotswold region and was aptly names once as “the most beautiful village in the Cotswolds by , a famous artist and designer. The well-known and charming village of Bibury is in Gloucestershire, tucked away down a track from the A40 between Burford and Cheltenham sitting on thee . Bibury is well-known for its famous weaver cottages called Arlington Row, a pretty cluster of terraced cottages where blockbuster movies have been filmed (Bridget Jones’s Diary and Stardust) dating back to the 16th century. Once a monastic wool store where cloth was made by the weavers then taken up to Arlington Mill where the Arlington Row cloth would be hung out to dry on timber frames. Tourists and visitors come from all over the world to visit Arlington Row and they are certainly a famous landmark that should never be missed if you are visiting the Cotswolds.

Famous Broadway Village

The famous Broadway village is overlooked by Broadway Tower which stands high up on a nearby beacon hill and is said to be one of England’s highest viewpoints. On a clear day, you can see across the Vales of Gloucester and Evesham with views as far as the Welsh Mountains. The tower was designed by James Wyatt and commissioned by Lady Coventry in 1799 who simply wanted to know if she could see the beacon hill from her home across the vale. The charming village of Broadway is a picture-perfect vision of quirky character and the high street is lined with large horse chestnut trees, with the street lined with pretty Cotswold cottages and beautiful grand Cotswold homes. The famous artist and designer William Morris is from Broadway and several more artists such as Mary Anderson and John Singer Sargent all come from the village with its wonderful array of antique shops, galleries and cafes that keep visitors busy. The famous Lygon Arms is one of the local hotels and often has famous celebrities staying. It is also believed that Oliver Cromwell stayed at the hotel the night before the Battle of Worcester.
