With the help of our partners, Scientific American features a Scientific American: ​ ​ Bring Science Home fun, new, science-related activity every Thursday that parents and their six- to 12-year-olds can do together. Adults will find easy-to-follow instructions and simple materials lists as well as additional background to help them explain the key concepts. Past activities include a flower dissection and ​ ​ building an airplane launcher. ​ Interactive STEM activities that include simulations for Concord Consortium ​ ​ modeling a variety of topics including air pollution, DNA translation, and atomic bond potential.

PhET Free Physics, Chemistry, Math, Earth Science, and Biology simulations brought to you by University of Colorado Boulder. ​ Many simulations include both “explore” and “game” functions to allow users to learn and have fun.

If you would like more structure, Mystery Science offers some Mystery Science ​ ​ excellent lessons for younger learners that include readings, activities, and assessments . The website is offering a School ​ Closure activity set to get learners started. ​ Virtual Marine Two marine biologists and parents who founded the Oceans Biology Field Initiative non-profit are hosting a virtual marine biology field camp at their home with their daughter twice a week. Find Camp them on their facebook page to access their videos and learn about the work they do.

Skype a Join live sessions where scientists talk about their research Scientist LIVE and answer questions. It is also possible to request that your family be paired with a scientist for a more personal q&a. If there is a particular field of science that your learner is curious
