Toronto, 19 April 2021 Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto observed the ‘Historic Day-2021’ with due honour and solemnity at the Consulate premises amid the covid-19 lockdown and stay-home order, following health and safety protocol of the provincial government. The messages by the Hon’ble President and Hon’ble Prime Minister were read out, a documentary on the was screened and an open discussion was held with participation of the officials of the Consulate.

In the speech, Consul General highlighted the significance of the historic Mujibnagar Government of which Bangabandhu was the President of the newly born people’s republic. Consul General remembered with great respect the sacrifices and struggle of Bangabandhu in his pursuit to free the nation. He remembered the four national leaders for their invaluable contributions during Liberation War, especially to mobilize global support in favour of 75 million peoples’ struggle for Independence.

Consul General highlighted the development trajectory of Bangladesh under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister . He urged all to strengthen the hands of the Hon’ble Prime Minister to build a secular and prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’, as dreamt by the Father of the Nation.

The program ended up with a special prayer for the martyrs, freedom fighters, Father of the Nation and his family members and continued peace, progress, and development of the country.
