IMPORTANT TOURIST PLACES IN TIRUPATI DISTRICT WORTH VISITING

SRIKALAHASTI : 36 kms from Tirupati is the sacred shrine of the wind God at Kalahasti town. Vayu aspect of Lord Shiva is worshipped here as Kalahastiswara Swamy. Legend has it that the Linga here was worshipped by a spider (Sri. A (Kala) and an elephant and hence the town came to be known as Sri Kalahasti.

Chandigarh Fort : Fort is 11 km from Tirupati and came into prominence during the last days of the Vijayanagar empire. The fort is said to have been built in 1000 AD and was later improved by the Vijayanagar Kings. The fort is built on a huge rock about 183 mtrs high. Within the walls of the fort lie the remains of palaces and temples.

Gudimalan : There is a beautiful temple dedicated to Sri Parasurameswara. This ancient temple is said to have bee built by the Pallava Kings. There is a very beautiful idol of in a small temple insite the main enclosure.

Horsely hills : The beautiful summer resort, ringed by the hills of Eastern lies about 150 kms from Tirupati by road. The last stretc is made up of a road along the folds of hills which inside climbs a height of 764 mt. (2,450ft.) from the point at the base. The hills reaching 1,265mt. (4,152ft) above sea level from the most elevated tableland in South . During hot months Horsely hills provide an ideal escape.

Thalakona water falls : Thalakona valley is situated in Seshacalam hill ranges which are known from the historic ages to the people of India on account of the famous Tirumala temple. It constitutes the head of the famous seven hills of Tirumala and is 35 miles away from Tirupati. The valley lies on ancient shrine of Siddeswaraswamy and about a mile there are water falls known as Siddodarathertham on Thalakona ranges . The height of the falls is about 50mt and it is perennial The dip under the falls is a thrilling experience as one gets a feeling that he is caught in hailstorm..

Kailaanatha Kona : The Lovely Kailasnatha Kona natural water falls in the Valley of nagari Hills near Puttur. It is believed that a bath at this mineral rich mineral has curative effects.
