CashBack for Communities North Lanarkshire Local Authority 2015/16 About CashBack for Communities CashBack for Communities is a Scottish Government programme which takes funds recovered from the proceeds of crime and invests them into free activities and programmes for young people across Scotland. Inspiring Scotland is the delivery partner for the CashBack for Communities programme, appointed in July 2012. CashBack invests monies seized from criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 back into our communities. Since 2008 the Scottish Government has committed £92 million to CashBack / community initiatives, funding community activities and facilities largely, but not exclusively, for young people. CashBack supports all 32 Local Authorities across Scotland. Sporting and recreational activities / culture / mentoring and employability / community projects. CashBack has delivered nearly 2 million activities and opportunities for young people. Phase 3 of CashBack runs to end March 2017 and is focused on positive outcomes for young people. CashBack for Communities: Aims CashBack activities: . Use the proceeds of crime in a positive way to expand young people’s horizons and increase their opportunities to develop their interests and skills in an enjoyable, fulfilling and supportive way. Are open, where possible, to all children and young people, while focusing resources in those communities suffering most from antisocial behaviour and crime. Seek to increase levels of participation to help divert young people away from ‘at risk’ behaviour, and will aim to increase the positive long-term outcomes for those who take part. NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL REPORT To: Learning & Leisure Services Subject: Review of Non-Denominational Committee Primary and Secondary School Roll Projections within the From: Head of Resources Motherwell Area Committee Boundaries Date: August 2012 Ref: JMcWLE Introduction At the June meeting of this committee, three strategic priorities were agreed for developing the school estate. The purpose of this paper is to consider Strategic Priority 1: There should be an improvement in occupancykapacity ratios (known as building utilisation) across the non-denominational primary and secondary estate in the Motherwell Area. Recommendations The Learning and Leisure Services Committee is invited to: (i) Note the strategic review of non-denominational primary and secondary education provision within the Motherwell Area * Note that the projected rising roll of Brannock High school will be kept under review * Note that the projected rising rolls of Ladywell Primary and Muirhouse Primary schools will be kept under review * Note that the projected rising rolls at Holytown Primary, Keir Hardie Primary and New Stevenston Primary schools will be kept under review (ii) Note that a separate paper on Calder, Glencairn and Muir Street Primary Schools is on todays Committee agenda (iii) Continue to monitor the overall trend of increasing rolls as a direct result of proposed housing developments at the former Ravenscraig site. This may involve developer contributions being sought to facilitate an increase in the capacity of the school estate in this area. (iv) -

The individual sums ranged from £4800 to £163,200. This report presents Committee with details of the operation of PEF in North Lanarkshire in financial year 2017/18 and examples of projects and interventions being implemented by schools. Recommendations It is recommended that Committee: (i) note the contents if this report and accompanying appendices, and (ii) agree to further, regular updates being presented at future committee on progress made. The Pupil Equity Funding forms part of the £750m Attainment Scotland Fund which will be invested over the current Parliamentary term. -

Recommendation : The education committee is asked (i) to note and approve the contents of this report (ii) to approve for publication the education department’s proposed annual report on school performance (Appendix 1). BACKGROUXD 1.1 Each education authority is required to publish an annual report to parents on the performance of schools in its area in relation to target measures. The report should be published by 15 December each year or as soon after that date as possible. The authority report will complement individual school reports on performance against targets. 1.2 SOEID guidance on reporting by schools and education authorities on school performance against Standard and Higher Grade targets was provided in SOEID Circular 5/98 (November 1998). The form and content of the Standard and Higher Grade target information to be included in the report is prescribed in the circular. In compliance with the advice and guidance contained in Circular 5/98, a report on authority targets was prepared and published in January 1999. 1.3 Circular 5/98 has now been augmented by Scottish Executive Circular 7/99 (October, 1999) which provides guidance on reporting by schools and education authorities on school performance against targets for 5- 14 attainment and for minimising absence. -

NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL REPORT To: Learning & Leisure Services Committee I Subject: Proposed closure of Calder Primary School along with associated Nursery Class Provision Ref: JMcWLE I Summary of the Proposal In summary, the proposal is that Calder Primary School be closed and its catchment area reallocated to the neighbouring schools of Muir Street Primary School and Glencairn Primary School. The Nursery Class will also be closed with provision relocated elsewhere within the Motherwell area. Detailed information about the proposal is contained in the consultation document attached to the report. Recommendations The Learning and Leisure Services Committee is recommended: 1. to approve formal consultation based on the proposal that at the end of school session 2012/13 the provision of education at Calder Primary School and Nursery Class be discontinued and that pupils due to attend Calder Primary School in August 201 3 should enrol at Muir Street Primary School and Glencairn Primary School in accordance with the amended catchment areas as delineated in the consultation document. Nursery Class provision will be relocated elsewhere within the Motherwell area. 2. to approve that the consultative document attached to this report be issued and made available to all interested parties. 3. to approve that all interested parties be invited to make written representation to the Calder Primary School and Nursery Class Consultation, Learning & Leisure Services, Municipal Buildings, Kildonan Street, Coatbridge, by no later than 20th November 201 2. We do this by working in partnership to provide a range of quality services for young people and the local community in North Lanarkshire. Using the medium of the creative industries, we provide workshops, partnership projects, volunteering opportunities and recording and rehearsal services.’ Coltness Music Project May 2016 Page 8 Foreword When Reeltime Music was established in 1997, we wanted to create a facility for vulnerable young people who were interested in music but could not afford to participate. We wanted to change that and make music free and accessible to all of them. 20 years later our work is even more relevant and effective today than it was back then. It is once again that time of year where as the Chairperson of our organisation I get to present our annual report to you. As in past reports you will see just how well we are progressing and how much our standards have risen yet again. Our team continue to mesmerise us with the highest quality results for all the young people we have worked with over the past year. Yet again it has been a difficult year for us in relation to securing the necessary funding. Just as in the previous year, grant funding has been cut or harder to obtain. However, we are, as ever, determined that we will not be deflected from our overall aim of developing the strength and growth of Reeltime Music – in other words, continuing to be a strong local charity supporting the needs of vulnerable young people. -
