Re: Fee change to portion ofCommercial HVAC permit

At the June Plumbing Board meeting it was brought to the attention ofthe Board members, that on some ofthe big commercial hvac jobs, the way the fees are calculated, they are very expensive; especially compared to the plumbing permit for the same job. Discussion followed that as the main goal for a permit is to cover inspection and administrative costs, these fees appeared to be a little excessive. (this only effects 2-4 permits a year) After much discussion it was felt that the fees were high. Therefore the Board made a motion to ask for your approval to decrease the fees on commercial jobs only, from $6 per thousand over $10,000 to $3 per thousand over $10,000.

FEE SCHEDULE

Non-Refundable Administrative Fee $1 0.00 $10.00

Residential- Heating & Cooling System $50.00 _ (each additional system) $25.00 Heating system only $50.00 _ Air condition only $50.00 _

Non-residential- Estimated Job Cost $, _

$0 - $10,000 $60.00 Over $10,000 $60.00 + ($6.00 per thousand over $10,000) (currentfees) ($3.00 per thousand over $ 10,000) (proposedfees)

We are requesting the appointment be made as quickly as possible as we are still awaiting approval from the State Soil Conservation Committee for the replacement ofMrs. Jean Haymaker's seat on the Board after her passing earlier this month. With the passing of Mr. Riggs and Mrs. Haymaker, the Board is short handed which is the reason the timeliness ofthis appointment is so important Thank you for your consideration on this matter. GUEST: Lawrence Gannon

The meeting was called to order at 9:10 a.m. A motion was made by Rocky Jones to approve the April minutes as sent; this was seconded by Zeke Warner and approved by all. SANITARY DISTRICT: There was lengthy discussion as to how water conditioners affect septic tank functions. For the S.K.1. Project- It has been decided by the Sanitary District, if a home has a water conditioner currently and it is plumbed in to the septic tank, it can stay plumbed that way. Ifa new water conditioner is being installed it may not be plumbed into the new tank. Arenco feels water conditioners do adversely affect the stratification process in the septic tank. There followed much discussion as to how this will be monitored and what might be the best way to dispose ofthe backwash ifit cannot go in to the septic tank. It was noted that there is nothing in the Plumbing or MDE on Site Waste Disposal regulations that prohibits water-conditioning waste going into the onsite waste disposal system. HEALTH DEPARTMENT: Nothing new to report. CLERK: Do we need to change the "water line type choices on the permit"? It was decided that we didn't need to make any changes.

Mike Sipes brought in a sample of Uponor Pex pipe and fittings to demonstrate to the Board how it works. Being no further business the meeting adjourned at 10: 15 a.m.

Ordinance 16-10 1 message

Dear QAC Commissioners: Queen Anne's County promotes destination weddings on t15 official website, qac.org, and with a brochure. The wedding industry Is a strong anchor for Queen Anne's County's economic and tourism development It affects many businesses positively including, but not limited to, hotels, restaurants, liquor stores, shops, etc. 'n addition to the venues. County Ordinance 16-10 would have a detrimental impact to QAC. Its Ilmitations would restrict many venues and put some out of business causing a ripple effect throughout the county. It should be a further discussion with appropriate compromises where needed. Every venue is unique and should be handled as SUCh. Please vote NO to County Ordinance 16-10 and hurting our economic and tourism development in CAC. Thank you.
