Dear Parents
I see Nando‟s are offering a „little order‟ only 350 metres from Parliament! Sometimes humour is our only response to a situation that is beyond our control…
So, if you were a little down after the State of the Nation address, your spirits would have risen in our Assembly this morning when we started with a music video (rap type) shot in Imizamo Yethu, featuring one of our pupils. The theme of the video was “Education in Important for our Nation, We Need Education!” [Check it out on YouTube, under “Kingz of 1Y”]. So well done to Batandwe who gave us the balance today, it was just what we needed after last night‟s chaos.
Pupil Safety
On Friday afternoon, after the Sports Day, five of our pupils went to the rocks next to Maidens Cove to enjoy the beach. They were mugged by three thieves, and one boy was stabbed. They returned to school and we mobilized Camps Bay Watch‟s Tactical Unit, the paramedics and police. Unfortunately we were unable to track down the thieves even though we followed the signal from one of the stolen iPhones.
On Monday in Assembly, I spoke to the school about not being fearful, but being careful. We can‟t let criminals stop us from enjoying our beaches and restricting our freedom of movement by making us scared. On the other hand we do need to be aware of potential danger and so be careful and alert when we are out.
In this situation on Friday, the pupils affected were not doing anything wrong, nor were they doing anything that would make them an easy prey. They were simply attacked by three criminals who had come into this area to mug people at the beach. It was bad luck that they happened to be the people that these criminals came across. I have written to our councillor Shayne Ramsay and asked for more visible policing in our community, especially along the beach front area.
The School‟s Governors will be meeting next week and we will discuss these issues at the meeting. Our number one priority is to ensure that our children are safe.

U14 : Lost 6 - 9 U19 : Won 11-10 from behind

CRICKET
U14 v Groote Schuur
Camps Bay High scored 185 after 20 overs, Lochlan Williamson scored 70 runs off 50 balls. Groote Schuur scored 100 runs and Camps Bay High won by 85 runs.
U15 v Cannons Creek
Camps Bay High scored 188 runs off 20 overs with Lochlan Williamson scoring 110 not out with 16 (4‟s) and 3 (6‟s), Joshua Finnish scored 30 off 18 balls. Cannons Creek was bowled out for 70 runs. Redau Hayat and Eathan Shirley took three wickets each.
U19 v Norman Henshilwood
Norman Henshilwood batted first and made 102 runs. Camps Bay High made 103 for no loss. Lochlan Williamson scored 38 runs and Sean Pape made 48. Camps Bay won by 10 wickets.
NB: Lochlan Williamson made 218 runs for Camps Bay High School and was not out in any of his innings!

In Conclusion
Thank you for helping us smarten up the uniform and „look‟ of our pupils. We continue with our programme to „look good‟. The focus this week has been the boys chino‟s as we move towards a uniform look and the end of super skinny pants.

We understand that many of us have work commitments and are unable to commit to time consuming projects, however, there are many projects that you can get involved in, that won't impact in your work commitments. Any help is welcome, no matter how small.
Look at it as contributing something towards your children's school, community and getting to know the workings of the school.
