Parish Updates

Amesbury  Workhouse Hill has had a CCTV survey and been cleared. New gully installed  Apologies from Richard Crook.

Warminster  Update on modeling – meeting with VF arranged for next week.  Working on Flood Plan with Renate Malton.  Drains cleared following the flash flooding on 13th July.  Sewer tank available to town.  Contact Pat Whyte, Highway Engineer regarding additional facility for targeted gully cleaning.

Bulford  Issue with sluice gate on private land. Not main river so Wiltshire Council to investigate. DE to arrange meeting to inspect.  Sweeping of roads Area highway office responsibility. Parish Steward could do some sweeping, but issue with disposal of waste raised. DE to check.

Boscombe & Allington  River Bourne has not had the usual annual maintenance. VF to liaise with colleagues.  Issue with 2 bridges having reduced flow due to constriction. DE to liaise with Structures team in WC.  Has Parish council considered working parties to clear rivers?

Quidhampton  On 26th July drains were cleared on the A36 by Highways .

Dinton  No issues to report.

Shrewton  D. Parrett has written to WC & EA about the drain on the A360. EA to meet on site on the 28th August.  Reported that it was on the list for HE betterments under the A303 scheme.  Flood signs needed to be put out 6 weeks ago.

Wilton  Thanks to WC for the CCTV survey works at Four Corners and for clearing the road ditch at Water Ditchampton .  Flooding in Water Ditchampton on the 27th May and 13th July.  Mapping of outfalls to share with Town Council.  Wilton Estate cleared the upper grip and has some more work to do in the Autumn. They advised that they are unable to dig out silt from the Water Ditchampton rear surface water drainage ditch but can take it away.  Reported that the Riding stables have done some rolling and harrowing work. The CSFO advised an aerator has not yet been trialled.  No CIL money available yet. Catherine to send DE detail of funding restriction.  COOP bridge – any update. VF to liaise with colleagues.

Fittleton  Flash floods on the 13th July. 3 drains completely blocked, pipe work may be broken.  Ditch reported as overgrown.  Danny Everett sent map of MOD land ownership. Meeting planned with Landmarc.  Walked inspection to be arranged with WC, parish council and Landmarc.  Lower Street ditch drains into culvert. Photos/plans to be sent to Danny Everett

Netheravon  Ongoing problem that DE is aware of.  Jetter needed before CCTV survey carried out. DE to inform Parish Council of dates.  Highway records doing investigation of land ownership.  Flood plan underway and PEAS form to be completed.

Pitton  Site visit required Vicky Farwig to arrange date.  Property level resilience still under European Tendering process. No timescale known.  Pitton Parish Council have engaged an engineer to assess cheaper alternatives.  Culvert at Townsend is Wiltshire Council responsibility. Maintenance issue to be raised with Area Highway Engineer, Graham Axtell.

Wiltshire Council Update  Two gangs working. One gang is working in front of major maintenance and a CCTV survey team.  Tilshead reservoir scheme progressing with intention to finish shortly.  August saw around 20 properties flooded.  Any ponding or flooding issues should be reported via App.

Environmental Agency  model received draft outputs. Opportunities for natural flood management and environmental improvements being considered.  Possible projects with the Wessex Chalk Stream & Rivers Trust and the Wildlife trust.  Met with Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership to talk about importance of flood risk. Funding may be available.  Looking at the catchment approach and natural flood management.  No flow in rivers can be reported to the EA incident line. 0800 80 70 60

Wessex Water  Groundwater levels are currently low.  Wilton works are waiting for report on cost estimate. 1st phase sewer sealing and repairs.
