PERFORMING ARTS @ CEDAR CREST COLLEGE

Version of Lewis Caroll’s classic created by The Manhattan Project, under the direction of Andre Gregory

DIRECTED BY Dr. Beth Peters-Ferrara DIRECTOR’S NOTE

“We’re All Mad Here” Throughout this election year I feel as if I have said the above line more than once, and since starting work on this show I have obviously been seeing and saying that line even more often in the last month! However, in facing what we are facing as a nation with this monumental election, it has been a breath of fresh air to work on Alice with a political twist. My hope for you as an audience is that you are able to enjoy a childhood classic while also being able to escape from reality and the intensity of the campaign ads. Coming “home” to Cedar Crest is a dream come true for me. I began my theatrical career at Cedar Crest as a bright eyed freshman in American Beauty and had the incredible honor of performing as Daisy Hilton in Side Show my senior year, with many shows in between. I was even able to come Version of Lewis Caroll’s classic created by back as an alum and continue on this two more times in September of 2001. In addition to an amazing education in Social Work and Psychology, The Manhattan Project I was also able to find who I was as an individual on this stage and continue to develop and hone my skills as a performer and director. Being able to use under the direction of Andre Gregory what I learned here under the direction of the incredible Performing Arts faculty and the late Roy Hine is both a blessing and an honor. Alice in Wonderland is presented by special arrangement with Coming into a program cold and brand new without knowing the students you are working with is never easy – but the students of CCC have Dramatists Service, Inc., New York. been warm, welcoming and incredible to work with. The talent I see from these 11 women on stage as well as the crew at each rehearsal blows me away every day. It takes a special close knit group to take a show from start to finish in less than 1 month and these women not only did that but went above and beyond as they made this show their own by incorporating their Directed by ideas, opinions, and creativity. I couldn’t be more excited for you to see and Dr. Beth Peters-Ferrara Kevin Gallagher appreciate their incredible hard work! Many thanks go out to Roxanne Amico and the entire CCC Performing Arts Set Design Design faculty for not only giving me this opportunity but also supporting me in every Roxanne Amico Brian Strachan way possible. Abigail, Olivia, and Megan – thank you for all your hard work as my Stage Manager and ASM’s. To the cast of Alice, thank you for making this one of the most rewarding challenges I have ever faced theatrically. I will Assistant Set Designer Stage Manager forever say “wrong scene” now when I hear someone sneeze! And finally to Sara Kleinert Abigail Ormiston my husband and children, thank you for sharing me with this incredible cast.
