Sometimes called Attica chert, the source of this unusual stone is along the Wabash River north of Indianapolis, Indiana. Despite its somewhat cherty appearance, it was greatly exploited by many cultures from the Paleo Indians to the Late Archaic peoples and examples can be found over a large part of the Midwest.
