“OUR RULES”

Violations: Students not adhering to “Our House Rules” and expectations are subject but not limited to the following corrective interventions and/or consequences:

From the Teacher:

 Receipt of a Corrective Behavior Intervention notification (1-3) with teacher documented parent / guardian contact and at least one of the following for each infraction:

o Student / Teacher Conference o Reflective assignment o Contract: daily / weekly report o Mediation o Loss of privileges / Confiscation o Detention o Temporary relocation within room o Temporary relocation to a cooperating teacher (verified and agreed upon)

 4th misconduct will result in a referral. Teacher will staple the Corrective Behavior Interventions (1- 3) with documented repetitive misconduct (disobedience, open defiance, insubordination) and parental contact dates and submit to student services for administrative consequences.

From the Administrator:

 Receipt of one or more referral will result in parent / guardian contact and at least one of the following: o Conflict Resolution / Mediation o Detention: morning, after school, Saturday o Loss of privileges / Confiscation o Parent / teacher conference o Behavior Contract o Schedule modification o Suspension (ISS / OSS)

After receipt of 3 completed Corrective Behavior Intervention forms and 3 or more referrals, a Team Teacher will complete and submit a Referral to the School-Based-Team.

 The Grade Level Team (teachers and administrator) will discuss and develop appropriate interventions in conjunction with the School-Based-Team.  If misconduct persists, Alternative Placement may be considered.

Students: Omni Middle School staff understands the importance of electronic devices, including cell phones. We want you to feel safe and have the ability to contact when necessary. In some instances, you are even encouraged to use your personal device(s) in class. Electronics are an integral part of our daily lives. Nonetheless, the use of personal electronics, including cell phones, must be used appropriately and at appropriate times as stated below. Expectations: If you bring an electronic device, including, but not limited to cell phones, the following criteria must be adhered to:  Before and after school cell phone usage is restricted to the bus loop area, the front of the school and while in the café for breakfast. The phone must be put away before exiting to the courtyard.  Devices must be securely stored in the pocket or bag. (I.e. ear buds, phone…)  Devices must NOT be visible (with the exception of the pocket), or used unless approved by a faculty or staff member.  Devices are not to be used during or after any school event, with the exception of the front of the school.  At the teachers discretion you may be afforded the opportunity to use an electronic device, but students must follow specific, controlled teacher direction. Rewards and Incentives: Students that consistently exhibit appropriate behaviors exemplifying “Our House Rules,” may qualify for some of the following perks:  Omni Bucks: Place this ticket in the grade level “Omni Bucks” box located in the café. Students: Academics are paramount at Omni Middle School. When you are on time to your classes, all students benefit. Omni has both a 1st and 2nd bell between each class, as well as at the start and close of school. These bells serve as a reminder and guide to ensure you are on time to class. Expectations: At the final bell, students are expected to:  Be completely inside the classroom  Be seated in your assigned location Rewards and Incentives: Students that consistently exhibit appropriate behaviors exemplifying “Our House Rules,” may qualify for some of the following perks:  Omni Bucks: Place this ticket in the grade level “Omni Bucks” box located in the café. Students: For your safety and the safety of others, blue lines have been painted down the center of most exterior hallways. Walking, opening doors, and entering rooms should always be conducted on the right side. The blue lines help to distinguish a left and right side. It is imperative that we maintain respectful decorum within the halls at all times. Expectations: While in the halls, students are expected to:  Gather belongings at locker and move to class directly.  Aside from transitions, all students must have a signed, completed “Omni Hall Pass”.  Walk on the right side of the blue line.  Keep all body parts to yourself.  Maintain a calm, respectful tone so as not to disturb other people.  Walk briskly to class without running. Omni Middle School Bus Script

Students: District transportation is often provided to students. The bus driver is entrusted with safely transporting you to and from school in a timely manner. Please remember, the driver’s priority is to focus on the road and traffic conditions. Your respect and demeanor will help facilitate this smooth transition. Expectations at the Bus Stop:  Arrive on time.  Remain courteous and respectful to those around you as well as your environment.  Keep all possessions and body parts to self. Expectations while on the Bus:  Respect the individual rules of each driver.  Sit in assigned seat as requested by the driver. Remain seated at all times  Food and drink is not permitted on district transportation.  Speak in a tone that will not interfere with other passengers.  Keep all possessions and body parts to self.  Respect the personal space and property of others.  Do not defame the bus in any way.  Maintain at least 10 to 15 feet of walking distance when crossing in front or behind the bus.  Do not cross multiple lanes of traffic.  Students are assigned 1 Bus according to address. Violations: Students not adhering to the above expectations will receive:  Verbal Warning.  Parent / guardian phone contact.  Temporary removal from the school bus.  Severe or repetitive infractions may result in the loss of district transportation. Teamwork will insure “Our House Rules!” Omni Middle School CAFE Script Students: Lunch time should be a relaxing, enjoyable, nutritious break. Omni Middle School Café provides students the ability to purchase lunch, snacks and drinks. We also wish to provide students the ability to sit and socialize in an open, respectful atmosphere. Expectations within the Café: In order to have a relaxing, enjoyable lunch, students are expected to:  Enter the café in a quiet, timely manner, before the bell rings.  Find a seat and sit patiently for directions.  When your table is called, place your bag on or under your seat (No saving seats).  Walk Towards the center aisle, making your way towards the main stage and around to the windows.  No more than five students at the counters at any given time.  Stay in line order and together.  Go directly back to your seat after purchasing lunch.  Only enter a lunch line one time. All items must be purchased at one time.  Throw all trash away that is both on the table and on the floor within your vicinity.  Exit towards the center isle, down to the main stage and out the front door into the courtyard. Expectations within the courtyard: As you complete your lunch, tables will be called to exit to the courtyard for socialization and exterior relaxation. Safety and respect is required. Remember to always:  Speak in a polite, respectful tone and language that will not disrupt others.  Maintain a safe pace while socializing.  Keep all food in the café. Violations:  Lose of open seating privilege / Assigned seat.  Move to the end of the lunch line.

Students: You are encouraged to utilize the media center computers, computer labs and classroom computers. It is imperative that the classroom computers and computer labs are well cared for and the space respected. Everyone uses these computers and rooms. Expectations: Upon entering a computer lab or classroom with computers:  Your teacher will assign you to a specific computer, record this on a Computer Lab Usage Report and maintain these records throughout the year.  You are responsible for checking your assigned computer and equipment for damage and immediately reporting any problems.  Follow explicit instructions from the teacher.  Use only YOUR school log-on and password.  Do not damage or deface the computer in any way, physically remove keys, pull plugs or bring up inappropriate browsers, graphics and/or programs. Prior to Exiting the Lab:  Place head phones over the computer screen.  Realign the keyboard close to the monitor.  Position the mouse and pad to the right of the keyboard neatly on the table.  Laptops must be powered down, closed and placed back in appropriate numerical order.  Laptops must be connected to accept a charge. Teachers will check all computers/laptops prior to the end of the class or exiting the lab.

Students that perform well should be rewarded. Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. With a little focus and positivity, all students should qualify for each and every field trip. The following expectations for participation will start over for all students each 9 week marking period, providing students ample opportunity to maintain and/or improve both academically and behaviorally.  Expectations for Participation: Students must have all required forms signed, submitted and approved at least 2 weeks before trip or event begins and, within any 9 week period, students must maintain all of the following:  Passing grades in all classes with conduct grades of 3 or 4 at midterm and, if applicable, at the end of the 9 week marking period.  No more than one referral from any individual staff member.  No more than two total referrals overall.  No more than 5 full day absences.  No more than 3 tardy notifications from any one class (Must be documented by teacher through the Corrective Behavior Intervention form and parental/ guardian contact must have been made each time).  No Level 3 Referrals. Expectations During Event: In addition to any and all school rules and outside facility rules and expectations, students must also:  Be on time for the trip or event.  Dress in appropriate attire, as outlined in the event guidelines.  Stay with assigned group.  Follow all directions from school and event staff members.  Be picked up no later than ½ hour after event ends or when bus returns. Grade Level Team and Administration may collectively modify above expectations on an individual student basis (Extenuating Circumstances Only) Failure to adhere to Event Expectations may result in, at a minimum, loss of further event participation. Students: During transitions, students are provided 5 minutes to move from class to class. Five minutes is ample time to use the restroom and walk to class. In the event you periodically do not have enough time during transitions to use the restroom, you may use the facilities during class time, provided it is not within the first or last 15 minutes of each class. Expectations: All students must obtain staff permission to be in the halls at any time. In addition, students must also:  Fill out your name, date and time on a Bathroom Sign Out form provided by each classroom teacher.  Have teacher sign a completed Pass.  Use the restroom nearest the classroom.  Wash hands after use.  Maintain a calm, quiet voice while in the halls.  Remain on projected course to and from restroom.  Return promptly back to class.
