POSITION: MEADERY TASTING ROOM ASSOCIATE (PART -TIME) – SAN DIEGO, CA

We are looking for enthusiastic and qualified individuals to join the Lost Cause Meadery team and serve as Tasting Room Associates at our San Diego tasting room.

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure our guests have an exceptional experience during their visit. Our goal is to make some of the best mead in the world, and we’re looking for individuals that can provide service that matches.

This is a part time position requiring constant interaction with guests and the ability to provide prompt and amazing service in a welcoming and friendly manner. Duties include serving & selling mead, educating customers, opening and closing the tasting room, and being a brand ambassador for Lost Cause Meadery. The ideal candidate has an outgoing personality, is engaging, high-energy, detailed- oriented and works continuously to improve overall productivity and the guest experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Extensive knowledge of either beer, wine or cider, with a strong desire to become an expert on all things mead: our mead making process, different mead styles, how to enjoy mead, and the mead industry. • Great customer service skills (friendly, engaging, high energy, enjoy working with customers) to create a warm, welcoming environment for guests. • Ability to effectively suggest and sell mead draft pours, bottles and promote mead club memberships • Be reliable. • Ability to multitask and work quickly under pressure, fill multiple orders at once, open tabs, collect payments, ensure glassware is collected and cleaned, change out emptied kegs, and maintain a clean and orderly bar area and tasting room. • Educate customers about mead in general, Lost Cause’s meads and company history • Ability to quickly remember returning customers, greet them by name when possible, take care of the regulars, and encourage repeat clientele by creating an exemplary tasting experience. • Ability to quickly learn policies and procedures for the tasting room. • Conduct work in a safe manner in accordance with company established guidelines. • Stamina to stand for entire shift and lift 20-40lbs from ground to waist level (glassware racks & bottle cases) and ground to above head and back down regularly (empty kegs). • Responsible to open and/or close the tasting room. • Experience, knowledge and ability to troubleshoot draft systems is a plus. • Must be available to work at least 4 days per week including nights, weekends & holidays.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• 21+ years or older • Minimum 1-year experience bartending • LEAD Certification Training required before starting work • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent • Able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check • Cicerone Beer Server Certification preferred
