Institut national d’histoire de l’art - INHA Villes et architecture des terrains ex-coloniaux (19e-20e siècles) Base de données bibliographiques réalisée par Sophie Brones Collaborateurs ayant participé au programme : INHA Département des Etudes et de la Recherche Programme Art et architecture dans la mondialisation Zahia Rahmani, Alice Thomine-Berrada Sophie Brones INHA Département de la Bibliothèque et de la Documentation Service du Développement des Collections Catherine Brand, Claire Couët Institut National du Patrimoine Bernard Toulier Programme « patrimoines partagés » Euromed Heritage Mercedes Volait La bibliographie « Villes et architecture des terrains ex-coloniaux 19 e-20 e siècles » constitue un état de la recherche en matière d’histoire de l’architecture et d’histoire urbaine et reflète, pour les pays du pourtour de la Méditerranée, une bonne partie de la production scientifique des chercheurs locaux. En septembre 2005 le patrimoine architectural des empires coloniaux européens a fait l’objet d’une table ronde organisée par la Fondation Calouste Gulbenkian et l’INP. La publication de ses actes en 2007 sous la direction de Marc Pabois et Bernard Toulier rend accessible une partie de la bibliographie et fait suite au premier ouvrage consacré à l’expérience française 1. Face à la nécessité d’aller au-delà d’une histoire de l’art strictement occidentale et de croiser des approches basées sur les seules aires culturelles, et, d’autre part, de développer les outils documentaires signalant les travaux et les sources relatives à l’architecture coloniale, le réseau de chercheurs ainsi créé a désigné l’INHA pour entreprendre une enquête dans la bibliographie sur l’architecture coloniale. A partir de 2006 le Service du Développement des Collections de la Bibliothèque de l’INHA s’est associé au Département des Etudes et de la Recherche autour du projet de lancement d’un chantier d’acquisitions. A ce titre environ 800 notices puisées dans les catalogues informatisés francophones et anglophones des grandes bibliothèques occidentales ont été rassemblées, corpus auquel s’ajoute celui des notices issues du programme « patrimoines partagés » ( Euromed Heritage ) pour certains pays du Maghreb et du Moyen-Orient. L’analyse et la formalisation de ces notices dans une base de données ont été menés depuis le mois d’octobre 2006 dans le cadre du programme « Art et Architecture dans la mondialisation » du Département des Etudes et de la Recherche de l’INHA. Les pays traités sont ceux des anciens empires coloniaux français, italien, belge, danois, allemand, néerlandais, espagnol, portugais et britannique. Les notices traitant des pays d’Afrique subsaharienne, des pays d’Amérique Latine et Centrale et des pays d’Asie et d’Océanie relèvent d’une interrogation systématique mais plus généraliste sur l’ « architecture coloniale ». Les notices sur les pays du Maghreb et du Proche-Orient (Algérie, Maroc, Tunisie, Libye, Egypte, Israël, Palestine, Liban, Syrie, Jordanie, Irak, Iran, Arabie Saoudite, Yémen) ont bénéficié quant à elles d’une enquête croisée dans les grandes bibliothèques occidentales francophones et anglophones. La production académique locale sur les villes et l’histoire de l’architecture a été réunie grâce au fonds bibliographique du programme « Patrimoines partagés » (Euromed Heritage) et à des recherches dans des catalogues spécialisés, comme ceux du réseau des centres de recherches français à l’étranger et le catalogue de la Fondation du Roi Abdul Aziz al- Saoud pour les Etudes Islamiques et les Sciences Humaines et sociales. Cette bibliographie est issue d’une base de données interrogeable à l’INHA.     Theatre for Change 1 Editorial ‘The very process of the workshop does so much for women. The process is an end in itself. For women who are not given to articulating their views, women who are not given to exploring their bodies in a creative way, for feeling good, for feeling fresh. Just doing physical and breathing exercises is a liberating experience for them. Then sharing experiences with each other and discovering that they are not insane, you know, discovering that every woman has dissatisfaction and negative feelings, touching other lives . When you come together in a space, you develop a trust, sharing with each other, enjoying just being in this space, enjoying singing and creating, out of your own experiences, your own plays’—Tripurari Sharma Theatre as process—workshopping—is an empowering activity. It encourages self- expression, develops self-confidence and communication skills, and promotes teamwork, cooperation, sharing. It is also therapeutic, helping individuals to probe within and express—share—deeply emotional experiences. Role-playing enables one to ‘enact’ something deeply personal that one is not otherwise able to express, displacing it and rendering it ‘safe’, supposedly ‘fictionalized’. In short, workshopping can be a liberatory experience. For women who, in our society especially, are not encouraged to develop an intimacy with their bodies, who are conditioned to be ashamed or uncomfortable about their physicality, the process of focusing on the body, on exercises which change one’s awareness of and relationship with and deployment of one’s body, offers an additional benefit, opening up a dimension of physicality which is normally out of bounds.

S. Al-Zwainy Faculty of Engineering, Isra University, Amman, Jordan ABSTRACT This research paper gives a historic overview of the Palestnian architecture from the ancient times until today. The first chapter treats the ancient architecture. It introduces us to the first architectural findings on the territory of Palestine and the earliest Palestinian houses. We will see the differences of styles and buildings in prehistoric and ancient times from those built during Roma-Byzantine rule and later during ancient Greek-Roman influence. It is the time of the emergence and spread of Christianity, thus the period of building its temples - the churches. With the conquest of Palestine by the Arabs and islamization of the country the architecture suffers changes and is influenced by this new religion and new lifestile. Jerusalem becomes the beacon of islamic religion and culture. This period is the subject of the second chapter that gives us overview of the Palestinian architecture starting from Arabs installation in the 7th century and the crusaders wars, followed by the rule of Mamluk's dynasty. We finalize this period of influence in the Palestinian architecture with the rule of the Ottoman Empire. Despite the change of religions and cultures, churches and mosques are being constructed in each rule.

This dissertation brings together his thought in two apparently disparate discourses, uṣūl al-fiqh (jurisprudence) and iʿjāz al-Qurʾān (inimitability of the Qurʾān), to highlight how these discourses are actually in dialogue with each other. It explores the centrality of al-Bāqillānī’s theory of language in his thought and devotes particular attention to his understanding of the role of figurative language.

    The ‘‘Designed’’ Israeli Interior, 1960–1977: Shaping Identity Daniella Ohad Smith, Ph.D., School of Visual Arts ABSTRACT The concept of a ‘‘home’’ had played an important role during the early decades of Israel’s establishment as a home for all the Jewish people. This study examines the ‘‘designed’’ home and its material culture during the 1960s and 1970s, focusing on aesthetic choices, approaches, and practices, which came to highlight the home’s role as a theater for staging, creating, and mirroring identities, or a laboratory for national boundaries. It seeks to identify the conceptualization of the domestic space during fundamental decades in the history of Israel.
