South Intramural Rules

I. Rosters

1. All team members listed on roster must have turned in his/her permission slip to be officially registered and eligible to play. 2. Adjustments to rosters will be allowed until the cut-off date sometime after winter break. 3. No interscholastic basketball players may join a team at any time during league play. 4. The team captain will have the responsibility of informing his/her team of all league rules and schedule changes.

II. Play

1. There must be at least 4 registered players ready to play no more than 10 minutes after scheduled game time. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit. 2. Players must have an appropriate number AFFIXED (ironed, written, sewn, etc.) on the front and back of his/her shirt. The number must be large enough to be visible from scorer’s table. 3. Players must give their name and number to scorer’s table before start of game. 4. Player must use the same number for the entire season. 5. Substitutions should be done through the scorer’s table and may only enter the game upon signal from scorer and referee.

III. Schedule

1. Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays 12 pm – 5 pm. 2. Each team should have at least one game per weekend. 3. Schedule is posted on the website (www.imbasouth.com) 4. Schedule changes are made for conflicts such as school functions, religious events, etc., but only if the team will not have enough players for the game. Teams should account for these conflicts and create a roster with enough players to cover these games. 5. The schedule will consist of round-robin play, followed by a playoff series and championship game.

IV. Timing

1. Two (2) 18 minute halves. 2. Clock runs continuously for the first 18 minutes. 3. Last 2 minutes are timed unless a team is losing by 20 or more points. 4. 4 minute halftime 5. 1 time out per half- may be used when in possession of ball 6. Overtime period is 5 minutes • clock will run continuously for first 3 minutes • last 2 minutes are timed • 1 additional time out per team is given • personal fouls and team fouls carry into OT

V. Rules 1. PIAA • Most of the game will be governed by the rules set forth by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association. • A copy of these rules is available for viewing • Rules or calls may not be challenged during a game. All challenges or clarification of rules can be done so in a timely manner before or after a game. 2. Special IMBA Rules 1. Sportsmanship- Show-boating, street-ball antics, dunking, showing-off, embarrassing other players, yelling while a player is shooting, intimidating, etc are prohibited.

2. In some games players may not jump or swat at a ball (applies to teams that are unevenly matched).

3. 20 Rule- Teams ahead by 20 or more points may not shoot within the .

4. 30 Point Rule- Teams ahead by 30 or more points must shoot from beyond the 3-point line.

VI. Fouls- OFFICIALS HAVE THE FINAL SAY!!

1. 5 personal fouls and player is benched 2. 2 technical fouls and player is ejected. Player may also be suspended from future games. The player must leave the gym immediately after . 3. 7 team fouls in a half initiates (reset each half) 4. 10 team fouls in a half initiates Double Bonus (reset each half) 5. The following is a list of common fouls and violations. It in no way is a substitute for the PIAA rulebook

Foul Types: • - loss of possession, no other penalty • Defensive Personal - 2 free-throws for offense if committed during a shot - tallied as team foul and personal foul • Offensive Personal Foul- loss of possession - tallied as team foul and personal foul • Team Foul- each personal foul that is not and offensive foul • Non-Flagrant - 2 shots + possession • Flagrant Technical Foul- player is ejected, 2 shots + possession
