Tacoma, WA – Three Southern musicians blend their distinct musical styles in an evening of genre-defying, soulful energy. Southern Troubadours in the Round features Joe Ely, Ruthie Foster and Paul Thorn on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in the historic Pantages Theater. Tickets start at $19 and are on sale now.

Joe Ely began recording music in the early 1970s with friends and . Together the three men formed the group . After disbanding in 1973, the group went on to successful solo careers. Today, Ely is known as one of the true pioneers of the alt-country, Americana, “too rock for country, too country for rock” brigade.

Ruthie Foster hails from a family of gospel singers, yet has emerged as a musician on her own, with a combustible blend of soul, blues, rock and folk music. Foster won the 2013 Koko Taylor Award, honoring notable female blues artists, and has received three Grammy nominations for Best Blues Album.

Before he was a musician, Paul Thorn jumped out of airplanes and was a professional boxer. His music has been described as a “muscular brand of roots music – bluesy, rocking and thoroughly Southern, yet also speaking universal truths.” His album Pimps & Preachers topped the Americana charts for three weeks and broke into the Billboard Top 100.
