urricane Harvey hit Texas on Friday, August 25, 2017, between Port Aransas and Port O’Connor. It is tied with 2005’s Hurricane HKatrina as the costliest on record, inflicting $125 billion in damage, primarily from catastrophic rainfall-triggered flooding in the area and . The number of homes destroyed by winds and flooding is too many to count. However, in the days following the storm, many Palm Harbor homeowners living along the Texas Gulf Coast reached out to share their stories and Hurricane Harvey thank Palm Harbor for their Damage: $125 billion (2017 USD) well-built home.

Both my wife and I were in downtown Seattle when the earthquake hit. We envisioned seeing our home split in half, walls cracked, our fish tank on the floor and our animals in hiding. What we found is a true testament and affirms our decision in purchasing a Palm Harbor home. I went under the home to explore the footings and foundation. The house didn’t give. According to one neighbor, “The quake hit with the force of a full-size pick-up truck a 90 m.p.h. slamming into the side of the house. And then the real shakin’ started.” We feel truly blessed. The folks at Palm Harbor were instrumental in helping us get our first home and should be proud of how well the home handled the quake. This act of Mother Nature showed us proof positive that we made the right decision.

Dear Palm Harbor: My husband, being a professional engineer, felt the structural quality of your homes were superior. Little did we know how true that really was ... until February 28th, 2001 at 10.55 a.m. a 6.8 earthquake hit here in Washington State. I was home alone at the time. Our Truman model shook and bounced! It was the longest 35 seconds I’ve known! I could barely stand. When it was over, I looked around my house and I sat and cried with joy. There seemed to be no damage to the home. My husband was able to get home about 4 hours later. He crawled under the house, on the roof, checked the chimney. Nothing. We searched the house for cracks. Nothing! Not even hairline cracks. Our neighbors, who have site built homes, lost stereo equipment and a lot for other stuff, but for us... NOTHING! Now we are working on a custom home for our beautiful wooden acres situated on the Deschutes River. We’re repeat customers because of the quality of your homes. At Palm Harbor, we build our manufactured and modular homes in A: centralized building centers and then transport them at 55mph down the freeway to our homeowners’ home sites. Then, the home sections are often lifted by crane and swung into place. To ensure that our homes endure this transport stress and still deliver superior energy efficiency, 100% customer satisfaction and the strength needed to endure destructive weather, our homes must be designed, engineered and built to a higher standard. Consequently, our homes typically weigh significantly more than same-sized site-built home. And the differences are in the details. Here are a few examples: 1) Engineering Each of our manufactured and modular homes is engineered for maximum strength, energy efficiency and wind zone protection, typically exceeding state and Federal building requirements.
